I love this idea! It is a good way to continue the legacy of the film, but in a different way. I also think the more classic looking Mario will help people to distinguish it as "Mario" over Bob Hoskins' character.

The soundtrack is fine the way it is in my opinion. It fits the movie and that's what matters.

A new film does not have to shadow over the old film. It will always be there in our hearts and minds. But, I for one, am a huge supporter of a new "franchise". With a good director, a good script, and the right production team to put together a great film.
