Re: "The Evil Dead" Films
Look, the point is that there's no point in trying to connect the "Evil Dead" movies, as they don't connect in a traditional fashion. There is a discontinuity between each film and trying to make sense of it is inane. Each movie is set in a slightly different canon.

Re: "The Evil Dead" Films
The beginning of each "Evil Dead" movie recaps fifteen minutes or so of the previous film in a sort of "remake" fashion. After the first twenty minutes of "Evil Dead II," it's no longer a "remake" but all new material. It's kind of like "Doctor Who"...

I really didn't care for the cartoons that much, as they weren't like the movie. I would have liked to seen a grittier cartoon, based on the movie in the style of say, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoons, or better yet, Batman: The Animated Series.

Eh, you were born in an era of widespread Internet, so it's different for you. I can remember a time when the Internet wasn't publicly available and people had to think for themselves-- that's the evil I'm talking about. The stripping of individuality and the disassociation of millions.

I'm just worried that there's going to be a third film that completely deviates from the source materials and completely goes into "Resident Evil" territory, giving each new movie a stupid subtitle that in forty years will make people confused about which order to watch the movies in.

I watched the original The Evil Dead last night for the first time. It really is a straight horror-survival film with very little humor. The Evil Dead II also took quite a bit from it, so it's easy to see how the remake is essentially re-adapting both. I really didn't get that at all from the trail...

Kubrick's finest film was his last. Eyes Wide Shut is a stunning and beautiful study of the ugliness of human sexuality and the depths of depravity that the mind can go to. A few days before he died, he said it was his "finest work."
