Re: Superman Lives -- Unproduced Tim Burton Film

You, sir, have some peculiar ideas about what it means to be Superman. I will agree, the plane sequence is the best part of the film, and as a standalone piece, it's pretty cool. What I guess I'm trying to say is that he doesn't get to be "Superman" enough because he spends most of the fi...

Re: NEW! Super Mario Bros. - The 20th Anniversary Re-edit

-I didn't like having "It's a me, Mario!" at the beginning. It signals Martinet's "new era" voice and doesn't really represent the Mario of that time. Something that might work better is a little short intro using the game sprites--and there's precedent for that as there's at lea...

Re: NEW! Super Mario Bros. - The 20th Anniversary Re-edit

If anything, I feel a bit offended that my opinion, and fan-edit (that I made for MYSELF ), aren't good enough for you. Agreed. We all know of Serum's extreme stance on the film but that doesn't mean it needs to be defended to this degree in every thread. Especially ones where someone is trying to ...

Re: Superman Lives -- Unproduced Tim Burton Film

In regards to Superman Returns... I had a very "meh" reaction when I first saw it, and I only dislike it more and more as the years go by. You mention that it's a love letter to the Donner films, and yes, it is a HUGE love letter, but that also makes it a HUGE problem. It essentially "...

I'm so down for this. Especially if they got Burton and Smith. Or even both of them in one room...THAT would be hilarious. I'm sure this film would've been a train wreck, but I'd rather have taken it over Superman Returns.

Maybe you could get into card games! I recently bought the DC Deck-Building Game by Cryptozoic, and it's a ton of fun. Unlike TCGs like Magic, all the cards you need come in one box. Easy to pick up but there's strategy too--which is perfect for wives and girlfriends :) We've played it 2-5 player at...

Re: Blu-Ray Re-Release Information/Petition

I got in the mood today to start banging the drum for a blu-ray release again. I've updated the home page, and I e-mailed the following to Disney: Hi folks, I am writing to see if plans for a Blu-Ray re-release of Super Mario Bros. (1993) is in the works. This year is the 20th anniversary of the fil...

Maybe I'm just thinking this since it's the latest Paper Mario game I've played, but I thought that Sticker Star gave the best presentation of "paper" Mario in the series. Pulling stickers off of walls, the neat sound effects, and the way that unlocking new levels had this great paper tab-...

It's pretty much a "shut up and take my money" vote from me. I love Wind Waker. I've probably mentioned this elsewhere, but I imported the original GCN Wind Waker from Japan months before the US release and played through the whole game in Japanese. It seems like quite a lot of people are ...

That's pretty awesome! I have a lot of faith in the dev team over at Next Level Games. Can't wait for Luigi's Mansion. Also--I beat Paper Mario: Sticker Star. Probably the 3rd best, behind Thousand Year Door and the original. It was a great entry in the series, especially for a handheld game. Howeve...

Re: The Soundtrack needs a reboot

I saw Nosferatu on DVD and it was fantastic (It was the first vampire movie made in the 1920s), however the second disc had the same movie with "modern" music. Watching a 1920s silent movie with heavy metal music blaring out was jarring and made that version of the film entirely unwatchab...

I really enjoyed this. Just like with your other short stories it does a great job of enhancing the world of the SMB film while not infringing on it. I just now got a chance to read this one. I think it's pretty interesting. I'm assuming a Dinohattanite made his way into our world and got into some trouble? I'm curious to see where it goes.

And I absolutely love the title. Rolls off the tong and is intriguing in and of itself.

I'm glad you enjoyed the film overall.

Which scenes are you referring to? I assume you're talking at least about the scene with the three trolls. I thought it could've been a little shorter, but I really liked it. And I thought the "riddles in the dark" sequence with Gollum was great.

I just got back from seeing The Hobbit for the second time. On opening day, we saw it in vanilla 2D, and today we saw it in the new HFR 3D format. Re: Mario returning to the big screen?

If done right, we could easily see a Wreck-It Ralph sequel launching a spinoff into a true animated Mario film from either Pixar or Disney. That is exactly what I think could (and hope does) happen. I don't expect us to get a true sequel of OUR film, but "Mario on film" is an idea I defin...

Wow, I actually have never seen that magazine before.

As for the date question, my guess is it's because the film came out a little later in the UK, from what I remember. And maybe like some comic books, the month stated on the cover may be a few months ahead of when it was actually released.

It will be interesting to see what direction this film goes if and when they decide to go through with it. And although Hoskins is supposed to be retired, I have a feeling he'd do whatever he could if the price was right and if someone like Zemeckis asked nicely. Then again, it all depends on how se...

I think I enjoy the game better than the film, actually.

I'm glad you brought up their 2D (or non-CG) films. I really like those; they're pretty charming. It's sad to see the decline of that animation style in recent years.
