Re: Nintendo Wii U Discussion/Recommendations
Just opened it up, and I'm getting it set up now. It's pretty cool, asthetically speaking. Not too keen on the 4-hour firmware update though, but that's to be expected. Just holding the gamepad in my hands and beginning to use it has me really excited. I can't wait to see what Nintendo comes up with...

Re: Nintendo Wii U Discussion/Recommendations
I'll kick the thread off with my Wii U plans. I preordered the Deluxe set the day Nintendo announced it, and I should be picking it up later today. I originally had New Super Mario Bros. U and Zombie U on pre-order, but I'm going to hold off on those until Christmas. I think the included Nintendo La...

Nintendo Wii U Discussion/Recommendations
Since Nintendo's new console is out today, I figured I'd make another one of our popular "Discussion/Recommendations" forum for the Wii U.
Who got one? Who's getting one? What games are good? Here's the thread to discuss all that!

Re: Wreck-It Ralph
I saw the film on its opening weekend. I loved it! I understand some of the criticisms I've seen listed so far, but none of them bothered me in the slightest. I think it was a very smart move on the filmmakers' part to keep the story relatively small and focused. Just like the original Toy Story did...

Re: Paper Mario Series
I downloaded the new Art Academy game, the day it was released. But for some reason, I still haven't received my download code.
I emailed Nintendo about it and they said everything is good and I would get my code in the 3-4 week period. But it's now been over 5.

Any clue what that was from or when? Around the time of the movie or something more recent?

Well, looks like we're having spambots again. I even changed the registration question and that didn't seem to help.,
So, until we can get this fixed, I've closed registration again. Send me a personal email if you're trying to register.

Re: Disney buys Lucasfilms...Star Wars Ep.7 on the way
What I'm curious about is if the storyline for episodes 7/8/9 will negate any of the world building done in the novels/comics/games/etc. in years past.
Did the SW prequels mess anything up, to anyone's knowledge?

I just love how much headway we made into the development of the script for SMB. Most films just don't get this kind of attention or get quite as much publicly revealed.

I doubt we'd personally host an NYC screening again, unless someone got it together on our behalf. Wilmington, NC makes sense because I live close and it's where the movie was filmed. And Los Angeles makes sense because, well...it's LA, and that's where the most people who worked on the film live.

Re: Disney buys Lucasfilms...Star Wars Ep.7 on the way
I think this is a really cool thing to happen and Lucas has given the Star Wars franchise the best possible home for growth for decades to come. I'm very intrigued by the idea that we'll get a true-blue new SW trilogy of films starting in 2015. This whole plan must've been something Lucas had in min...

Just last weekend I completed my second full playthrough of Star Fox Adventures. I hadn't played it really since its release way back in 2002. I got Resident Evil 6 the day it came out and I played through the entire campaign with co-op with one of my friends. I have to say, it was extremely fun (better than RE5 for sure). I don't think the game deserves as bad of a rep as it's gotten--but I do think us playing the game in co-op was a huge...

Overbearing I think is a really good word for it. It's just too cumbersome and technical for its own good. IMO, MP2 is definitely the best of the N64 games. MP1 is a good introduction, and MP2 improved and enhanced that formula. MP3 seemed to ignore the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" pr...

Well, I was finally able to give Mario Party 3 a shot after borrowing a copy from a friend. I didn't want to do two players with just me and my wife, so I waited until another friend could come over so we could do a three-player game. And it was still pretty terrible. We did a "short" 20-t...

Anyone get any of the first 3 DLC packs for NSMB2? I got all three. The beginner course is the most fun--and it's something I wish the actual game had more of. The intermediate course is okay but I felt didn't really offer a whole lot. And the difficult "Nerve Wrack Pack" is pretty hard, w...

I know you're saying this in jest, but the general public doesn't know or care the significance of naming them "Segale." IMO, it's even more confusing to give the brothers that last name.

But there is and was very little canon in the games anyway Exactly! That's why some fans tend to take these small "facts" established in the games and build them up to be very important things--because there's not much else to draw from if you're trying to form any sort of "canon&quo...

I think it's because this kind of fervor for what a character or "canon" is for a franchise builds up over the years. And when something just changes without reason, people start complaining about it.

Re: Miyamoto: The Koopalings are NOT Bowser's children
Two words: continuity reboot. Miyamoto did say in the games current storyline so maybe this is a different reboot. That's my main issue with this. If the current games aren't supposed to have stories, and it's all about the gameplay...then why even bother with "rebooting" continuity like ...

The question is whether this was always his/their intention or a decision that came after. I mean, I have no problem imagining the Koopalings as adopted generals, but to outright go against the text of the manuals and games is a bit much. Sorry to be so blunt about this, but I gotta call shenanigan...

True but in the games Luigi was given little respect and the filmakers didn't make the games and as you can clearly see, their vision was different from Miyamoto's. Exactly. And that's something that I think has only become even clearer in recent years. With the first few games in Mario canon, ther...
