I think it does too. I LOVE Return to Oz. It has this really great dark yet comedic tone that I think captures the spirit of the books much, MUCH better than the 1939 film.

"You've been violated, girly man!" I remember that very vividly. Leguizamo was certainly the best part of Spawn , and while I don't remember a lot of specifics about the film I remember really enjoying his performance. I'll have to watch it again sometime to see what I think of it now. I a...

Looks like Mario won't be making an appearance in the film. Here's a tweet from Quint from Ain't it Cool News who attended the film's panel at SDCC:

Mario a no go for Wreck-It Ralph, but tons of Sonic, Pac-Man, Streetfighter, Qbert characters. Bowser made the cut, though

While Intrada would be the ideal company to re-release Silvestri's score )as they have worked with him in the past), they don't have the rights to do so. I emailed them last November about the possibility of an expanded release of the score and they responded that it would be very difficult because ...

Re: Differences from the fullscreen and widescreen versions?

If you're in Texas, you're in luck. The film is coming to Dallas in August :) I think the sound mix on the DVD is poor because I'm suspecting that the US DVD is a transfer of what was done for the Laserdisc version. The DVD says it has 5.1 Digital Surround, but on my dad's amazing home theater setup...

Re: Differences from the fullscreen and widescreen versions?

That shot you're talking about is because some shots in widescreen films don't translate well to fullscreen when there are two characters in a shot on the extreme ends of the frame. When that happens you'll see an artificial camera shift to what the focus of that scene is. It's usually pretty notice...

I recently picked up Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy . It definitely has this kind of cult/sleeper hit feel to it because of how quirky it is and the fact that it's exclusively on the 3DS. The first Mario Party is pretty important because it essentially created that kind of party game genre. In that way it's much like Super Mario Kart--it's not the best in the series but it introduced us to the idea of that kind of game and it's fun now for nostalgia's sake. I remember how different a...

I do agree with Redstar's statement that Hocus Pocus is an interesting companion to Super Mario Bros. If a sequel does get made (especially a theatrical one) I'll be very impressed. If it can happen to Hocus Pocus, hopefully it can eventually happen to Super Mario Bros. as well :)

I too saw Men in Black 3 and enjoyed it far more than I expected. Having the time-travel element take them into the 1950s-60s gave them a great opportunity to showcase the kinds of old-school alien designs popular from that time period. And the ending wasn't too shabby either. While on vacation toda...

^That's probably not the reason, FYI. I think it's that the target demographic for this film (kids aged 5-12) are most likely to purchase the game on those platforms. A lot of people give GBII a bad rap, but I love it. I think with the right script and the right attitude, a GBIII could be amazing. It already seems like people like Murray aren't just going to let a mediocre film be made, so that's probably a good thing.

I agree. The Paper Mario series has evolved into its own franchise, and was pretty far removed from SMRPG anyway. The M&L series is extremely good for what it is, although I feel like the story gets in the way sometimes and the gameplay gets repetitive on occasion.

1up, your opinion is completely valid. It's just my opinion that Super Paper Mario is bullcrap. Overall, I think what bothered me the most is that the game got so wrapped up in its own "Paper Mario" style and story structure that they let the "game" part of it fall by the wayside...
