Re: Bob Hoskins has died - 30/04/2014

Trusting the fungus is adjacent to suspending your belief and trusting chance. Life is unpredictable and no one knows where it will take us. We must keep a susceptible mind and accept every challenge while trusting our strengths. Mario learns this principle in the film. Bob utilized this also when ...

Re: Max Headroom: The Super Mario Bros. Connection

I'm glad you're gonna pick this up! You shouldn't be disappointed; your comment about it being a British produced 'American' show is right on target. I still have a few episodes to go before I finish the series, but I think it's a really solid show. Very cult, very underrated. Just like that other t...

Re: Max Headroom: The Super Mario Bros. Connection

You should get Shout! Factory's Max Headroom TV series boxset. While Rocky and Annabel only created the character and directed the original TV movie (they had nothing to do with the US TV series), the set does have some pretty good documentaries about the creation of the character that they both par...

Re: Barry Morrow's Original First Draft?

The Morrow draft is certainly not a myth. It was one of the first things that Roland Joffe and Jake Eberts had commissioned for the film. I think they spent quite a bit of money to get Morrow on board. They were hoping that his credibility from Rain Man would attract the kind of talent they were loo...

Re: ERTL Toy Line Discussion

I think ERTL was just trying to cram as many references to the look and feel of the film into those more deluxe playsets as possible. The Devo Chamber primarily functions as it does in the film, letting you de-evolve people and stuff. Although, if I was a kid, I would also let it double for Devo 4, ...

Re: Yoshi's Film/Game Portrayal

Our take is that the ridges grew in between the ending of the film and the beginning of the comic while Luigi's appearance is an an actual redesign. The king, however, is based off of Lance Henriksen; only his clothing is different. Yoshi will keep the same appearance throughout the rest of the stor...

I really appreciate you picking up the ball with this. I LOVED the "Super Mario Adventures" comics in Nintendo Power--the humor and "marioness" of that series is one of the best Mario things ever, IMO. It's cool to see a spiritual successor.

I have a WiiU and I've been enjoying it so far. I'm not surprised that it hasn't been selling too well--for whatever reason, Nintendo just doesn't have a clue how to market this thing. Still, they were finally able to make the 3DS rise from the ashes, so I'm pretty confident they'll be able to do th...

It's sad to hear that Mr. Wells has passed. I've always been a huge fan of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show--both the live action and cartoon parts. I just picked the first two issues of this today, and I've gotta say--I'm impressed! It's such an intriguing look at how the Star Wars universe evolved from Lucas' first draft to what it is today. Overall, the story seems darker in tone than the original films, but that's not a detractor. Comic book...

What I'm confused about is that it's called "3D World." Makes sense for the 3D in the 3DS but not so much the WiiU. Same problem with all of the titles with the "New" in them.
