From Microchips to Moviestars--Making of SMB--BLOG THREAD

Okay, so I had an idea. Most of you guys have seen this book, From Microchips to Moviestars: The Making of Super Mario Bros., but everyone hasn't had the chance to read it. So, in blog fashion, I'm gonna quickly go through the book, chapter by chapter, and dish out the more interesting stuff the boo...

Re: Super Mario 25th Anniversary

There's no way they won't release this in the states. If they didn't, it'd be a big mistake. Off the top of my head there isn't really anything for Wii this holiday that I HAVE to have (DKCR excluded).

I just wonder if the history book will mention the SMB film...

Re: Official Props/Costumes Thread

Awesome pic. It'd be great to track these things down today. The mechanics are so intricate for those things--I'm surprised how close of a match the foam rubber ones are to the effects pair.

Any idea on how many pairs of hero effects boots were made?

Re: Official Publication Thread (Newspapers, Magazines, etc.

Oh nice--I had seen that Markee magazine article on the internet before, but they must have just recently added in that PDF of the actual file. It's only the first page though...are the rest on there? And there's yet another "Damn Phlibbit has stuff but won't get it on the site" moment, in...

Re: Metroid: Other M

Well, let me coax you a little. Metroid: Zero Mission for GBA is a remake/re-telling of the original NES Metroid--it's amazing. Metroid Fusion is also good too. I've been really wanting to play Metroid 2 for GB but haven't got around to it yet...same goes for Super Metroid, although I'm 3/4 of the w...

Re: Yoshi's Film/Game Portrayal

Here's the thing: Yoshi, in-game, is just as ambiguous in regards to species as any of the other SMB characters. Mario and Luigi are human, of course. The Princess seems to be human, but it's kind of cool that this notion is contested in both the games and in the film. One big reason why the writers...

Metroid: Other M

Since ultimateemail5000 already brought this up, I figured I'd make a thread about it.

I looooove me some Metroid. Dunno why they've let you down, but I love 'em. I had problems with Prime 2/3, but they're still pretty dang good.

Re: UPDATED 8/31/10: Exclusive Interview with Mark and Mike!

On imdb I noticed Mark was also in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (he was part of April's camera crew in the scene with Chief Sterns), just like Jeff Goodwin! It interests me because I often categorize that movie and SMB as the same kind of film: A large children's-based franchise that came to the bi...

Re: NEW INTERVIEW-MARK MILLER & MIKE HARDING! (Discuss Here)

Here are my initial thoughts on the interview, blog style: I wonder how long the "Lizard Man" scene was. Was it just a small cut thing or did he actually speak to them in the film? And like I showed you before, there's the little thing in the coloring book with Mario and Luigi in their cel...

Re: Official Props/Costumes Thread

Those are some awesome pics! The stompers seem to be in pretty decent condition, considering their age and their foam rubber makeup. How about taking a top-down shot as well? Are they 100% foam rubber? I always wondered how those things would hold up with the actors wearing them. It's awesome to see...

I mean, yeah--that shot in the elevator is what makes the film. Mario and Luigi both accept that they need to be heroes. They get their traditional outfits. They do the awesome "glug glug glug" handshake. They have the Thwomp Stompers. And the score is blazing! For that one moment--they go...
