Re: The Return of Princess Daisy (wild mass guessing thread)
The earlier drafts expanded a lot more on the concept of the desert--I think they didn't in the finished film because they didn't have the space, time, and money to do stuff out there. From what I understand, all of the desert scenes were filmed in an unused quarry next to, in, or down the street fr...

Sounds great. I have pages set up for props, costumes, etc. but haven't got to them yet. 8/14/10 Updates
Hi folks, here's what was updated on 8/14/10: * There is now a custom "error 404" page. Now, when you go to one of the pages that doesn't work, you'll at least have something nicer to look at. Keep in mind that 99% of the error pages you'll come to here are because that particular section ...

Wow, that's interesting. I could totally see her in the role.
Sounds to me like when there was a director switch, there was probably a casting switch as well.

Well that's surprising. I myself found qualities to be enjoyable, but I don't think I could ever find the the whole to be good. That said, it appears those who've never seen the source material (the cartoon series on Nick) are generally more forgiving of the movie's flaws. Have you seen the show? B...

Re: The Last Airbender
I saw this the other day at the second-run theater for three bucks, in regular 2D. I heard all the bad things about the movie and how much worse it was in 3D. Well...I liked it. Not a perfect film by any means--the story needed work and the kid playing Aang was really flat and unbelievable. Still, n...

Re: NEW DVD RELEASE--STILL NON-ANAMORPHIC--YOU CAN HELP!
I posted the gist of this at the top: Like you said Redstar, with only three e-mails in the bag, we're already starting to get a canned response. To really get them to listen, you'll have to come up with different angles and reasons for why you'd like a new, anamorphic version of the SMB film. When ...

Re: Differences among releases?
From Cactus on the FanEdit forums: Regarding the audio, basically yes. A PAL DVD is sped up by 4%, which is very noticeable if you're used to the original pitch. Imagine the difference of playing a C note on a piano and then a C#. Sometimes, though rarely, PAL DVDs have the audio track pitched down...

Re: NEW DVD RELEASE--STILL NON-ANAMORPHIC--YOU CAN HELP!

I have that region 2 release. Since all this new release stuff happened, I went back through my catalog to check on this stuff. Yes, it seems to be anamorphic, but I can't tell if there's any noticeable change in quality...perhaps they just "cut out" the black bars from the region 1 and tu...

Re: NEW DVD RELEASE--STILL NON-ANAMORPHIC--YOU CAN HELP!
So I did some researching, and it turns out that Buena Vista is NOTORIOUS for releasing non-anamorphic DVDs. Apparently, when DVD first took off (and most of us still had 4:3 televisions), they just took their backlog of films and did quick DVD transfers, using the laserdisc versions as their source...

Hey, that kind of makes sense. If I remember correctly, there's an Italian SMB movie poster out there with the Mario "M" hat on the top of the "Super Mario Bros." logo. It'd be cool if we could get proof, though.
