Re: ERTL Toy Line Discussion
I found a goomba figure on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-Nintendo-Super-Mario-Bros-Goomba-Figure-Movie_W0QQitemZ270470710174QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item3ef94f839e Yeah, I tried to find the figures but that's all I could find movie Mario wise, but according to Zack, it's very ...

notice that the box says "no batteries required", thats a little strange y'know. Not necessarily; battery-operated talking toys didn't really come into vogue until 1994/1995. These guys might be* old-school pullstring toys with a miniature "record player" inside. (*"Might b...

Aw, you beat me to it. Here's another link with just a tad more info: http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=436525>1=28103 Captain Lou was awesome. I wholeheartedly agree that he's the most prominent real/game Mario to me. His live-action character from the SMBSS was hilarious, and his incred...

Wow. Sorry I haven't kept up with this thread, but that's some really nice work there. You ended up doing Mario/Luigi voices didn't you? If so, you made the right choice, lol. Can't wait to see the completed product.

That was freaking hilarious. Having you re-enact some of the devo scenes was funny enough but then you went into full-blast mode and started doing random scene re-enactments. Had me on the floor. And when you had the Mario voice-over..."ahahah, how could that possibly happen?" Priceless st...

No, I don't think you are. I'm convinced that there was a lot of legitimate thought that went into the film's production. I fully expect to find lots of new little tidbits if it ever gets a HD release.

Here's something I think would've been cool: Does anyone remember those cool Power Rangers toys (from the original series) where they would have the costume on, except for the head, and there would be a button on the back where you could press and their head would instantly switch into the helmet? Well, if you've seen some of the preproduction artwork on the site, that's exactly what they had planned. Probably didn't get that far because of budget reasons though. Actually...in the early draft script, there's actually a scene that takes place on the monorail! OMG it would've been a bullet bill...

Basically, yeah. There's the featurette, and then the film. Although every so often, a message will scroll across the screen saying stuff like "THIS IS A SCREENER VIDEO. THIS IS NOT MEANT TO BE PURCHASED. IF YOU PURCHASED THIS CALL BLAH BLAH BLAH JAIL BLAH ETC..."

Yeah. When I bid on mine, it was only listed like a normal copy of the SMB movie. I could make out the words "Demo Tape," and in the small, grainy picture, I made out...check out...special effects...featurette...WHAT!? So yeah, it's a nice find.

I think seven koopalings all at once is way too much, especially for an introductory/reboot film for a new franchise. The koopalings could take up an entire movie by themselves.
