Re: Super Mario Bros. The Ride

I imagined the ride being like a cross between "Dinosaur" from Animal Kingdom and "The Great Movie Ride" from Hollywood Studios. I figure the people would ride in Dinohattan-like tram cars that seat 3 or 4 rows of people, but move fast and bumpy like the Dinosaur ride. The ride w...

Re: Official Props/Costumes Thread

With people like billbot, marioblaster, and Howlrunner I think it'd be simple and fairly inexpensive to produce quality replicas. Just a matter of the interest and funds. I'd chip in for a pair for the right project. Actually, I've never built a replica prop or costume before. I mean I've made make...

I'm really looking forward to this one, especially since I've been thinking about buying a goomba head bust and building a replica costume. Here's my questions: Is it possible for a fan to build his own goomba replica and use servo motors from remote controlled cars (to make the mouth open and close...

wow, this is exciting!! Here is a question I have. Since Jurassic Park was coming out the same year as Super Mario Bros, was there any connection or comparison between the Yoshi made for the movie and the dinosaurs made for Jurassic Park? Also, were there any deleted scenes that involved Yoshi? Or w...

I got this book for myself a few months ago, and I love it! I love the pictures, and the details about the construction of the goombas, and how the actors prepared for their roles like Phlibbit said. Definitely a great read and pretty cheap if you manage to find it on amazon :D Another thing to note...

Yoshi as a brontosaurus? Now that's something I never considered haha. I always considered Yoshi more like a T-rex, probably mostly because he was bipedal and did eat enemies. But, on the other hand he was like an advanced dinosaur, eating both berries and enemies, pirahnna plants, ect. so it was li...

AMAZING job on the two goombas!! They look just like the originals. That's really cool that the MEL company sent you photos of the ones they have on display. If costumes could be made these would be so awesome on Halloween or at a con. Just their sheer size I think would have people totally freak.

I think casting Koopa as "human" was a stroke of genius. Really, it's hard to take a non-human villain seriously. If Koopa was visually based on the game version, then it would definitely have costume goofiness in moving the mouth, which would only contribute to the audience not taking hi...
