Re: new guy here
Welcome, JoeBlow80! I agree that the film was totally underrated and could have easily generated one of the few examples of a superior sequel. All the groundwork had already been lain with the first film so the second could have focused more on the fascinatingly grotesque qualities of the parallel w...

Welcome to the board! The memory of the movie has stuck with us all, some more than others. This is a place to relive those memories and foster them... Re: Super Mario Bros. Novelization
There was in fact a novelization for the film, which was written by acclaimed Young Adult author Todd Strasser. His novelization was somewhat darker in tone from the film and included a number of deleted/alternate scenes. As it stands, it's the best indication we have as to the likely structure of a...

Re: "Super Mario World: Times Square" Fan Script
I really enjoyed this. I could easily spot the '91 fantasy script and '93 sci-fi script inspirations, though none of it felt in the least bit forced. Everything was integrated well into your new concept, which seems to be developing well along its own path. It was all very well written, too, which i...

Re: SMB: Mushroom Madness (a Fan Film)
If there is one thing I really didn't like about the original movie, it was the underpowered Devo Guns. They fired a weak stream of energy that took several seconds to do any damage. And Koopa was standing still, I can't imagine trying to shoot a fast, small target with those things. And my movie c...

I've said it many times before and will continue to say it: it is no longer possible to make a live-action Super Mario Bros. film adaptation. It may be possible to make an animated adaptation, but the issues with adapting the property at all would still be too great. The problem with the series is t...

Also, I was glad they changed the antagonist 's ridiculous plan in the book to a more practical plan in the movie...which is probably why Alan Moore is so mad-- Zack Snyder came up with a better plot device than he (Alan Moore) could. What do you think of the '87 film?
"Green Lantern-style effects" doesn't suit me. The He-Man universe, as far as I know, doesn't employ a vast amount of fantastical creatures or worlds to require that level of CGI. A remake could fare very well with mostly practical effects.

Re: Watchmen Vs Watchmen (2009)
The graphic novel is vastly superior simply because its story is better suited for that medium. Everything is typically executed much better than that of the film, excepting for the ultimate climax. I'd really like to see a prequel , so that we can find out stuff like who the original king was*, how Koopa came into power, how the Devo gadgets were built and what it involved, etc. Most importantly, it needs to address the question of how the evolved dinosaurs came to emulate humans. Couple of additional changes I wouldn't mind seeing: 1.) If at all possible, it might be better to show Lena simply screaming while utterly disintegrating into ash and swirling away rather than the undignified gasp then blast into the wall as a skeleton. I think this would be fairly easy to pull off...

I think a short film continuing the story of the movie or at least featuring the characters in some way would be a cool idea, especially since we have a good resource of props and creature stuff to work with. However, that's just a dream until the concept proves feasible. Otherwise, the first ever &...
