Re: SMB II: Evolved Nightmares
Super Mario Bros. 2 does have a basic concept that could easily be translated into any of a dozen ways for a continuation to the '93 film's concept. It's arguably the best Mario game of the 8-bit era.

Re: Would the SMB games work with a serious tone?
Heh, somone should mod Grand Theft Auto with a Mario theme. I think it could work, it would be so far out of left field, it would revitalize interest, instead of the current Mario and Nintendo being a bit like white noise in the world of video games. There was a popular video circulated online abou...

I'm really looking forward to seeing the climax and your animation-talents in full-swing. It's been such a long time since your "melt down" deleted scene so I'm curious how much you've progressed and what you've managed to put into this project. It's certainly anxiously expected.

Fan Works Forum Rules
As additions to the Fan Works forum are pretty common we've decided to outline a few rules to maintain organization. They should be very easy to follow so there's no excuse for breaking them. * Fan works must be appropriate for all ages. A certain amount of mature themes, such as context-appropriate...

Koopa sits up, momentarily shaken at the mention of Daisy's mother. He turns away, walking to the open window of his tower. He stares out at his city. The city he changed... revolutionized... brought from the Stone Age. "Your mother..." He pauses a moment, then resumes. "Your mother w...

(I'll continue with Koopa, but I have no qualms with passing the character off) Koopa steps forward, his arms held upright in a mannerism even he doesn't realize. He wears a long lizard-skin robe with which to produce an air of nobility. His breast has several military medals to designate his warlo...

Since this is a "spin-off" to the '91 Jennewein/Parker fantasy script than it could very easily take place in the same world, only a "land over." The themes and attitude of that script would make it very easy for the inclusion of our favorite little troll. I recommend reading the...

The Clement/la Frenais draft Phlibbit linked just above is a good place to start if either of you are interested in seeing more interaction between Koopa and Daisy. I don't think any attraction between them in the film is too "obvious," but there was a brief carnal attraction in several of the early scripts. Koopa attempted seduction of Daisy was originally written with him having a more hypnotic quality that made Daisy more susceptible to his advance...

I've always thought that their relationship was entirely one-sided. Koopa has always only had one love in his life: Daisy's mother, and even then it wasn't a "real" love. That's evidenced very clearly through his transference of the supposed sincere affections onto Daisy. It really seems t...

Also, the Bob-Ombs in my story will be exactly as they are from the movie, and I want to maybe eventually have a game-movie compromise version of the Devo Chamber, and if I go down that road, it'd be a very clear reference to the movie. Hey, thanks man! Yeah, I'm always bummed when people try to do the noir thing while pushing too hard on being dark and messed up, and less on simply being adult and stylish. Brilliant comic, McGriffin. You see these "realistic" or "gritty" takes on the Super Mario Bros. mythos often, but this was the first time I felt it was respectful to what the source material was really about. The idea of there being another world, one with different "rules&...

Hopefully if there is a re-release of the DVD, the scene with Koopa and Lena will be included, thus helping clear up any confusion/beliefs that their relationship was one-sided. Danny Devito would play Wario and would take over the Mushroom Kingdom (Dinohattan)! Kinda like in Super Mario Land 2 :o I like the idea of Wario being played by Danny DeVito. Re: Wario/Waluigi Film Concept
I personally prefer the idea of it being animated. Wario is just a character that could benefit from the exaggeration of animation. Still, live-action is an interesting prospect. I would love to watch a gag-filled and mean-spirited modern version of The Dark Crystal.

Re: William Shatner as King Koopa
The reason Shatner spoke that way is because every episode had constant rewrites so he had to pause often to remember what the new lines were. Funny, since Super Mario Bros. went through the same thing, so we'd probably get the same acting if Shatner had played Koopa.
