Re: Differences among releases?
Cool story, Merritt. I've always wanted some of those promotional props that stores usually get for new releases. I've asked on several occasions for Wal-Mart to pass on some of the giant cardboard cutouts of Mario from the video game section, but they keep those things up for well over a year and b...

Re: Differences among releases?
Nice poster.
I actually like the US release (Region 1) DVD art the most because it's simple and gets the job done. Region 4 is simple, but badly put-together, and Region 2 looks good but is too "busy" in my opinion. We need a new cover.

Re: SyFy movie premiere "shameless plug"
Yeah, "Sci Fi channel production" screams "avoid at all costs", but knowing you were involved is enough to get me to at least record it. I'll try to watch it sometime and provide a review, focusing on the areas you worked on. :) I refuse to call it the 'SyFy' channel, it's always...

Re: Nostalgic Fan
I don't regret getting Yoshi's Story. It was a great game. I find that most of the criticism it received was for being too short (though there's only 24 levels, and you only need to play through six to beat the game), but I didn't really mind. Some of the levels more than made up for that, but I wou...

Re: SMB Movie Plot Holes/Goofs/Inconsistencies
Here's another: when Mario and Luigi first enter the parallel world and they just being to explore Dinohattan, they see Daisy being forced into a cab by Iggy and Spike. Luigi calls down to Daisy, but him and Mario are forced away by a police officer. The shot then cuts rather sharply to both of them...

Re: Differences among releases?
Well there's several different DVD covers , which implies to me different releases. I know they all obviously weren't meant for specific regional release, but there may or may not be a difference outside of the box art in terms of video quality, screen format, and menus. Here's the three covers of t...

Differences among releases?
So as far as I can tell, there have been three releases of the SMB movie (so far ): the VHS, and two DVDs. I already own the VHS and would like to have one of the DVDs, but Amazon isn't being too informative on the differences between the two DVD releases and I can't find any sites that discus...

Re: Nostalgic Fan
I actually was given the N64 by my grandma by accident. I had seen commercials for a new Yoshi game which I really wanted, so when we went to the store to check it out I found it was on the N64, which I didn't have. So sometime later she actually bought me the entire system and Yoshi's Story, the ga...

I was actually making up a post with a lot of strike-throughs, but the option wasn't available. Glad it is now.

Re: Somewhere, exists a three-hour cut of "Super Mario Bros."
Putting a film on out VHS or DVD isn't all that expensive unless they pull out all the stops, even if they pull out all the stops. I used to work in a restaurant (I'm sure we all have at least once) and we'd get the soda syrup and the tanks, and we'd mix and carbonate it ourselves. The whole batch w...

Re: He's got a Bob Omb!!!
If you ask me, they're rudimentary AI-drones designed to concentrate damage on a single point without risking much damage on other areas. This explains how the Bob-Omb in the movie somehow, coincidentally, traveled all the way across the ground and up the wall to Koopa's position. It wasn't dumb-luc...

Re: Official "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" Thread
I've never attempted playing any game through emulator except for Game Boy and NES games, so can't help you there. (Don't think I could anyways, since the idea of anything more advanced than those two running on my computer freaks me out) If interested: http://acmlm.kafuka.org/board/thread.php?id=42...

Re: Official "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" Thread
I never liked SMS Brcause of Fludd. I didn't like the idea of Mario having a water gun, after hearing 5 years before the game was gonna come out "Mario will be mature in his new game." It was not mature at all, infact it was way childish than any other Mario game. Plus it didn't have all ...

Re: Somewhere, exists a three-hour cut of "Super Mario Bros."
You're right, lots of movies are about that long before release. The reason is they need a lot of footage to work with before they figure out what sort of cut they want to send out, so only filming 90 minutes isn't going to give them room to make a decent movie. In fact, somewhere, sitting in a vaul...

Re: Official "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" Thread
Okay, I'm glad, I thought you were trying to start some crazy rumor that Mario 64 2 does exist. Man, I wish. the 64DD-console expansion that never came... I forgot about FLUDD's little video montage of previous games in the corner from his POV. I also try to forget about Sunshine too. Haha. I actua...

Re: Official "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" Thread
Wario may not be Mario, but he does reside in the same world as Mario. Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins for the Game Boy was their first adventure together, and, not counting the Mario Party or sports games, they've also appeared together in Yoshi's Island 2 and Super Mario 64 2 . When and what...

Re: Another fan made sequel
I'll be hard-pressed to accept him as a canon character as well. If Nintendo does attempt it, we'll only end up with a canon black sheep like Bowser Jr. If I come up with a SMB movie (I'm a writer, ideas flow) and for some reason I wanted to incorporate Waluigi, I'd be sure to give his character goo...

Re: Another fan made sequel
Yeah WaLuigi's name is completely unoriginal, it's not even stated if he and Wario are even Bros. They could have atleast called him Waigi or something. Waluigi is a portmanteau of the Japanese word "Warui", meaning "bad", and Luigi. So his name basically means "Bad Luigi&q...

Re: Official "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" Thread
I didn't count the sports, party, and GB games because that is something completely different. Wario is not Mario, there for he doesn't count. The SML series also wasnt done by Miyamoto, that's another reason. The only good Mario RPG game is SMRPG(SNES) and the M&L Trilogy. I hate Paper Mario b...

Re: Official "New Super Mario Bros. Wii" Thread
Honestly, I just figured Nintendo rebooted the series and retconned the Koopalings in favor of Bowser Jr. That would have been fine, but since they seem to be bringing them back we're just ending up with conflicting canon... Though I suppose they can be considered alternate canons from each other, e...

Re: Another fan made sequel
I don't really like Waluigi either. I understand they wanted to "balance the sides" a bit, but he isn't even Wario's brother... So, where did he come from? What are his intentions? Until those are explained, he'll only feel like a gimmick character like the other "Mario sports"-o...

Re: SMB Movie Plot Holes/Goofs/Inconsistencies
At first I was going to post this as a possible deleted scene, but this as an inconsistency is probably more likely. When Mario jumps down into the street from the Klown Kar and is followed by Koopa chasing him, we cut to a scene of Luigi, Daisy, and the other missing girls just walking in on Lena s...

Eh. Not everything can be perfect. (Though the perfectionist in me screams otherwise
)
The fully-put-together ensemble more than makes up for that, but what really stands out to me is the fabric itself. Quality materials.

Well, just recently found this site in doing research for an SMB movie-related project and was glad to find the forum seemingly still in operation. Always glad to find childhood interest alive well into adulthood. Always been a Mario fan. Born in '90, same year Mario World came out, and I used to wa...

This is begging for a fan film... I'm actually warming up to the idea of doing something like that with my costumes. Once they are all completed of course. Maybe not a full fledged fan film but maybe like a little skit or something. I play a horrible Luigi...better actors would need to be found and...
