I saw that they had done this via Twitter. Haven't watched it yet, nor do I really intend to, but it certainly gave the film a boost in attention. That's always good to have at least once a month.

Cineplex "favourite video game flick" poll

The Cineplex.Com movie blog is holding a poll for the most popular video game adaptation. The current leader is Resident Evil , followed by Lara Croft: Tomb Raider . There's no importance behind the poll, but it would still be nice to see Super Mario Bros. win or place high. Vote in its favor if you...

Re: What Mario Bros. Media do you own?

I have a large collection of the games, especially from the NES and SNES eras, but I won't go into all of them. I'll just list the other things that I have:

Two of the hard plastic Mario dolls
A thermos and lunch box
Burger King toys
A drinking glass
Several candy containers/boxes

Roland Joffé, the producer who worked alongside Eberts, is still alive and may be interested in being interviewed. We just need to wait an appropriate amount of time before re-approaching him. It's a shame that we won't get the both of them, but these things happen. It only further demonstrates the...

I understand the hate toward SMS but I still find it enjoyable. Not the best though. It's still the only Mario game I never collected all the stars for. There's too many hidden blue coins, mini levels, and mini levels without the FLUDD. They just made it too insane with collecting blue coins. That'...

For one thing, he should talk. Mario is known for being a silent protagonist, so an adversary who talks at all would be an interesting dynamic.

The American live-action "Death Note" adaption. It's in pretty early stages, but, after Dragon Ball Evolution & Avatar: The Last Airbender, I wanna see if they can redeem themselves with this. They say it will be a "Thriller", so, maybe there's some hope. Well, unless if the...

Re: "It's popular, so it sucks"

The "rules" of how time travel operates in the Back to the Future series are just there to serve the plot. They don't make a lick of sense beyond that. Most hard science fiction stories that tackle the premise establish the rules first, then demonstrate how the characters react to them. It...

Re: Super Mario Bros. Movie Podcast Episode

It must have been a gargantuan task for the screenwriters to turn the whimsical anthropomorphized creatures of the Nintendo series into tangible characters. However, my biggest critique of the movie's screenplay remains - why even try to make the characters "real," i.e. why try to fit the...

Back to the Future Part II was very weak despite the clever time-twisting it executed, while only The Empire Strikes Back can be considered solid. I love the Back to the Future series. Part II is probably my favorite. It's incredibly creative and inventive, IMO it's one of the best film trilogies e...

I almost sort of agree. While I grew up with Super Mario World first and hold much nostalgia for it and many of its levels it simply hasn't aged with me as well. I've come to appreciate Super Mario Bros. 2 and 3 much more. While I wouldn't say that I dislike Super Mario World, I just don't enjoy it ...

What's wrong with Scott Pilgrim? I found Cera completely unlikeable and unsympathetic in the role. The entire premise felt like it was pandering towards the gamer/nerd culture, which irked me. It seemed more like they were trying to make something zany and cult-pleasing on purpose, which rarely eve...

The movie could have been good if Goku wasn't white... I've got to stop you, right there. Goku is an alien, from the planet Plant. Why would he be Asian? I've always enjoyed The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. The casting is good and the story a good reversal of the original novels. It certainly could have been much better executed, but I liked it. Solid film with true sequel potential.

I'd wager a guess that at this point, many more gamers and non-gamers know who Wario is versus Wart. My perspective is that even non-gamers would know of Wart due to casually playing as kids during the NES/SNES era. They would thus remember Koopa and "that frog boss" from Super Mario Bros...
