Re: Modern Sequel Thoughts

But how many people outside of the gaming/Mario community really know who Wario is, let alone care? He's a widely used character, sure, but nowhere near as iconic as Mario's other villains Bowser and Wart.

I could see him used as a secondary villain, but not as a primary antagonist.

Re: 'Little Monsters' Online Community?

I have vague memories of this movie, but nothing beyond that. I do recall that it had pretty cool makeup design for the monsters. I've done some looking around and haven't found any longlasting, devoted communities to the film, so you'd be best creating one for yourself if you are so inclined. If yo...

The lack of vegetation was a huge theme of the parallel world. Why else did Koopa want to merge the dimensions and take over? We have resources.

$300 for an evening is all? It was $350 to rent the print for a single showing. We did not have to pay this fee through the Landmark screenings, but did for the Cinematique showing in Wilmington. Typically it has to do with whether Disney is making a percentage or not through ticket sales. Would th...

Nintendo Power Ceases Publication

A couple days late, though I felt it still important to post here that the venerable Nintendo Power magazine will be ceasing publication before the year's end. Apparently, Nintendo itself no longer has any interest in working with the magazine. This is truly a shame. While I haven't held a subscript...

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 3?

I didn't hear much of anything about Super Mario Galaxy 2, so I'm guessing it wasn't as big of a hit as the first, and it kind of seems like the ideas and concepts are being recycled already in the second installment. Super Mario Galaxy 2 really was more of an evolution of the core concepts seen in...

It's a whole story unto itself! Mario says his family goes back a few generations, right? Well, it's not hard to guess that every generation has had its own iteration of the "Mario Brothers" causing trouble in Dinohattan. Well, if you consider Parker & Terry's initial pitch canon then...

Re: How would you interpret game characters into the film?

Problem: Monty Moles are mammals, which we know weren't very common in the parallel world. I'm not sure how it would have worked, though it should be pointed out that Parker and Terry hinted at them being used by Koopa in their fantasyesque initial pitch.

The subject of this topic is "modern" sequel thoughts and I just don't feel that Wario, regardless of his merit as a character, is an iconic enough member of the Super Mario mythos to really be involved in any film.
