Re: The Batman Films

The trailer for Batman: Under the Red Hood doesn't do its masterful retelling of the classic comic storyline justice, nor its talented voice actors any favors, but it's still a good film. Anyone seen it?

You know, Serum, you might find "Trust the Fungus": Lessons in Media Literacy Learned from the Movies by Lori A. Norton-Meier to be an interesting read in regards to the film's spiritual/metaphysical themes. It's a paper written by an educator for an academic journal, if you can believe it...

Alright, so is there a schedule for The Bugman or will you just post a chapter whenever? I will attempt to continue this story, as well as Mother Rita's Vow and any others I may write, on a weekly basis. Expect new parts on Friday or Saturday. When I first started reading, I imagined Stanley with o...

Worst part was Koopa getting killed essentially. But while Hopper's characters were often evil and batshit insane, they weren't atupid. Id imagine Koopa would be like the King and keep sentient deviolved into slime. But also have anticipated this possibility and had hidden away some sort of way to ...

It's a terrible idea. "Ghostbusters" died when John Belushi died. The role Bill Murray played was written for John Belushi, one the greatest comedians of all time. And the original idea was much better when Belushi signed on to it-- they were going to have it set a hundred years in the fu...

I'm not sure if it's a goof, but here is something that I might have noticed. I realized that at the 'Bella Napoli' restaurant scene, Daisy was eating pasta. I dont actually recall seeing, or even thinking twice about it, but did Daisy have meatballs on her spaghetti? If so she was eating meat! Lat...

Here's the thing with additional showings: we can ask, but it might not happen. We've been lucky to work with a theater chain that isn't charging us; they're running the film as part of their regular lineup. We might not be so lucky in requesting additional locations. That being said, renting the fi...

You raise an excellent point, gizmodonna. We really are screaming to the heavens at an apathetic god, so to speak, but still we pray. We are in touch with the film's producers who may just know exactly the state and/or location of any extended footage, so it's just a matter of asking and hoping.

Re: How would you interpret game characters into the film?

I really enjoy these points, The Doc. You're treading the fine line between skewing towards the games in a way that doesn't fit, thematically, and taking things how the film's sequels might have if given the opportunity. You're very successful at that balance. I typically don't like it when people t...

Anyway, having Stanley be a Scapelli instead of a Mario was definitley an interesting twist and I liked this protrayal of him. I felt making him the cousin of Scapelli made a lot more sense. I've always enjoyed the first act build-up of films like Ghostbusters and Evolution and felt that Super Mario Bros. really would have benefited from a similar opening. I'd have seen him as a secondary villain in the sequel. They clearly didn't know what to do with him, so setting him up for that role would have been a better saving throw than the weak resolution they did offer.

He's almost a combination of Foreman Spike, Wario and Donkey Kong. I could easily have seen him fill the role of 'exploiter' in a sequel if he hadn't been chimpified, though that demise also opened the door for a Donkey Kong-inspired abduction of Daniella. How about that nerdy koopling that likes to...

Which characters/enemies would you most have wanted to see interpreted into the film's gritty, cyberpunk take on the game series? How do you think they would have fit into such a drastically divergent universe? There's certainly enough material to have filled out an entire new cast of characters!

People seriously underestimate Leguizamo as an actor. I suppose he's just not as marketable as the flood of pretty white boys we have in teen-aimed flicks these days, but at one point he was a very cute guy with some real acting chops. He's only gotten better.
