Re: The First Year (Discussion Thread)
Alright, so far so good, you got the starter developed greatly, the only real thing I have to say is to change it to a prologue. This is what I love to do in stories like these, basically whenever you start a story if the first chapter doesn't really have anything to do with the rest of the story b...

Men in Black Series
This is one of my favorite film series of all time, which surprises even me considering that up until a few weeks ago they only had two films and an animated series. Very rarely does a film tackle comedy so well and sincerely. I would have no qualms with declaring MiB to be more the true alien-focus...

Re: possible sequel idea
True Lyan, but if there is an animated show first then a movie, more people would assume that the movie would be loosely based on the show. I say do the movie first or if not show reruns of the older shows and movie on cable or network tv to get people interested A television show in the same vein ...

Shooting at Colorado Premiere of The Dark Knight Rises
As many of you may already know, there was a mass shooting incident at the midnight premiere of The Dark Knight Rises at a theater in Colorado. A man, now confirmed to be 24-year-old graduate student James Eagan Holmes, entered the theater 20 minutes into the showing wearing a bulletproof vest, gogg...

Re: The First Year (Fanfic)
I'm honestly not too interested in a fic that's set AFTER the movie, I feel it's much more interesting to explore BEFORE especially since the movie set out a lot of questions for fan fic authors to answer. I'd have to agree only when the sequel does not continue the themes or story of the original ...

What are some of the ways that Daisy is 'uncomfortable in the human world,' to quote Koopa? What's an incident or reoccurrence from her life that might have clued her in that she's not quite human? I actually have just the story in mind to demonstrate that premise; I've had it in mind for some time...

Hollywood Goes Gaming Documentary
I just discovered a 2007 documentary ( Hollywood Goes Gaming ) on the history of video games and their journey into Hollywood, from the original TRON to Resident Evil to, of course, Super Mario Bros. The documentary features interviews with Paul W. S. Anderson, Uwe Boll, Shigeru Miyamoto and even Ro...

Re: possible sequel idea
Like most people who have speculated on a sequel, you seem to be skewing the concepts of the film more closely to the themes of and elements of the games. It's something that could work, though it has to be done exactly right. The two properties are just too different thematically to really be recon...

i am watching the film now and there is a mention of something by luigi saying that mario told daisy (in the truck on the way to the sight after they first meet her) that Luigi sucks his thumb. Re: possible sequel idea
I've expressed this thought before, but I don't think the Super Mario property is really one that needs a reboot at this time, let alone one that easily could be reimagined. It just has so much mythology behind it that expectations of what the character is are too wildly different. It's part of what...

My friend's favorite games are Game Guy's. When my brothers and I play we've always considered Game Guy to be a last resort. First of all, I really love the title for this story. It really says so much towards what you're trying to say thematically. The first year is always the hardest with the founding of a new government out of the ashes of its predecessor always being a risky proposition. I can certainly see some paral...

Re: Did Anyone Else Catch This Bit of Irony?
You know, people often suggest that Christians may be offended by the evolutionary theme of the film, though it never occurred to me just how metaphorical this small moment in the film really is towards that issue. I'd have to agree with Prime Evil, though, that Catholicism is a much different breed...

So how did Koopa and Lena meet, anyway? What started their rise to power? "How" they met is somewhat implied in the film itself during the scene in which Lena speaks with Daisy, though I feel there's plenty of room to explore her relationship with Koopa on a much more interesting level. V...

Does the Swedish version have any extra scenes, or just little extra easter eggs photoshopped in, or what? Re: Cult Films That Deserve Fan Communities
I think that Return to Oz deserves a bigger fan community than it has. I think it does too. I LOVE Return to Oz . It has this really great dark yet comedic tone that I think captures the spirit of the books much, MUCH better than the 1939 film. If I were to host a cult community for any film other ...

That was it! With that review the score has finally reached a respectable 4/5 stars on Amazon! When we started out on this mission the film had under 200 reviews, but after consistent effort we have raised that number to the current 271. It's required quite an amount of networking to achieve such an...

Spawn has a lot to offer for the era in which it was filmed, though after what's been done since its failings are only all the more obvious. My main beef with the film is that it was marketed as "the untold story" and while they set up a lot of interesting things, the filmmakers didn't de...

Daisy and Waluigi are just... interesting additions to the Mario universe. I wouldn't say they offer much to the canon, but they certainly have much more personality than many of the main cast. They would have a lot to offer an actual core game.

Hosting a screening entails being on stage, introducing the film and representing us at the site in an official capacity.
