Re: April 27th screening in New York (My Birthday!)

It's nice to see one of our members attend the screening. In the end, this is really just for us. If even just a few of us can see the movie on the big screen for the first time it'll be worth it. :)

Re: 19th Anniversary Theatrical Screening Events

So how did the NYC screening go? We've heard back from Michael Criscuolo. He said that about 40 - 50 people came for their showing on Friday and that he was able to share a few thoughts on the film before it screened. No one talked to him or Shawn afterwards, but it was late and people were tired. ...

Thought that Joss Whedon talking of his failed pitch for a Batman reboot would be of interest here. According to GQ , Whedon was approached to pitch a concept for a new Batman film, but was rejected for one reason or another. It was a while ago, between the day-glo Joel Schumacher sequels and the Ch...

Yoshi is the one true gimmick in the franchise? Miyamoto has said himself that they didn't implement Yoshi as well as they had hoped and it somewhat shows. I enjoy Yoshi as much as the next person, but I can see that they haven't utilized the character very well since his original appearance. It's ...

I would be seriously pissed if the latest rumor that Benedict Cumberbatch is playing Khan is true. That would be terrible, terrible casting, not to mention blatant whitewashing of a clearly Indian character. At least Montalban had the excuse of acting in a time when you were either white or an extra...

Interesting Yes, but why? People like actual critique so that they know how they can do better. Your comment doesn't inspire discussion and that's a real shame because 1up works hard on his writing. It's a great start to a story, though I feel there's a lot of redundancy at work. The word "sui...

That's interesting. I hadn't noticed that before, though it does seem likely that there would be different sizes. I'm just not sure why they would bother to do so for the production or even just for the graphics.

I do like this game but it really can't beat SMB3, to me I think its because of Yoshi. When Yoshi first came out he was a great character, looking at him now, I think he is a very trashy character and I do not like him. Yoshi really is probably the one true gimmick in the franchise. He worked for h...

Re: Super Mario 4

Personally, I feel that the sequential numbering is no longer relevant. While with the original three games you could definitely see a progression in themes and playstyle, the Mario games have become something more. There's no real progression. Each title is largely stand-alone and enjoyable for its...

I like it. It says a lot more about Luigi's situation with no words than could be conveyed any other way. It's funny, well-shot and the effects are pretty well executed. I can see more from this.

It does have a whole universe that feels a lot more alive than the earlier games did. I agree about the atmosphere and style. Playing the earlier games you sort of get a feel for a mythical land, but it's nothing more than a surreal adventure. SMW actually immerses you in a real world with living en...

It took about a decade and quite a few misfires, but Marvel comics are finally getting some good and often clever film adaptations.
