Paper boy hats, golf hat, or burret, I don't remember how it's spelled. But I got my Mario hat years ago typing red golf hat, and it showed up. They also sell Mario Bros hats on ebay that look just like the ones in the game.

MarioWiki has a collection of beta artwork and graphics that is fairly complete. All of it is from later iterations of the game, though, in which the design aesthetic is closer to how the final game looks. I remember they showed those off in like 97, and they would delay the game for so many years....

I just beat the new on 3DS, there's still a lot to do in it though, but nothing a lot. You can collect stickers and donate them to a museum, and find allthe "thing" objects. Other than that, it was a short game. i think I have 16 hours in mine.
