I'd definitely see it in theaters if it was released again.

I think a CGI/Anamatronic look might work out for a direct sequel. Sadly there'd have to be some recastings, I'd imagine cause who knows if Bob or John would return to the roles of Mario and Luigi. Let alone Samantha Mathis for Daisy.

When was the last time you watched the movie?

For me it was just a few hours ago. Got the craving for some Mario and popped in the DVD.

If I owned a 3DS, I might be interested in owning Super Mario Bros. in 3D. But to be honest it'd be better just to own a nice BD3D of it

What about Smitty/Smitthy? from Super Mario RPG. He feels like the dictator type of person that coudl work for SMB2.

I once had a dream where I somehow got to start filming a sequel and it had Koopa in his somewhat de-evolved dino form with the dino-like face and extended hands. And it even showed a scene where he was talking to a somehow revived Lena. really all I remember from it.

You know what. If they did reboot, I would actually go more with unknowns. That way we can keep them for longer.

That quote could be placed on the back of the Blu-ray. I really do like that cover too. It's a pity we won't see it for at least a long while.
