Postby Phlibbit » Sun Aug 15, 2010 3:50 pm

Just read the title, folks. I'm working on getting something really cool for later today. Check back here (or on the front page) around 9:00 PM (EST) to find out what it is...

EDIT (8/16/10): taking longer than I initially planned...but I'm working on it until it's done, don't worry...

EDIT (8/17/10):

It's finally up--an exclusive SMB Archive interview with Mojo Nixon! Start reading. :D

Great to hear that it'll be up tonight, Ryan!

And yeah, I really am glad that this site exists! Even though I don't post very frequently, I do check it nearly every day.

In fact, if you'd have an interest, I'd like to work with you on putting together a prop & costume image/info archive for the site. I think there are enough items out there in people's collections that we could put together a fairly thorough archive.

Sounds great. I have pages set up for props, costumes, etc. but haven't got to them yet. With your help, it'd be great trying to get as much organized as we can about each piece that's out there.

...In other news, I'm in the middle of a terrential downpour here in TN. Our power just went out--I'm updating this message through my phone. I just now got home and was about to finish up the "surprise update" when all this started to happen. I did have whatever I'd done saved though.

So, at this point I'm waiting for the power to come back on. I'll let you guys know when that happens...

Yeah I'd be glad to help you organize a props & costumes page. Just let me know what you might need.

I'll take updated pics of everything I own.

I'm glad to hear someone else is taking the initiative to work with Phlibbit like I have. Hopefully every one of us on these forums can contribute something to getting the site caught-up. :D

Man, that sounds great (coming from a Californian that loves the rain). Hopefully not too much damage occurred. Glad to hear your power is back and you can get things back in order.

I'm excited for the mystery update too! Sorry I haven't posted in a while, just got back from vacation. My sister used to live in TN so I know how crazy the weather can be. Best of luck finishing the surprise Ryan, I'm really looking forward to it :D

loved reading the interview Phlibbit!! Great to hear about the movie experience through an actor, especially Mojo (even though he says he's not)! I always thought he seemed like a really interesting guy to talk to. Really informative interview, this site just gets better and better :D

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get a hold of Nixon for an interview, Phlibbit?

It's unfortunate that the beginning of the interview wasn't recorded but I can't think of a funnier way for it to start than the way it does.

There's just something special about talking to someone involved in the movie and hearing how bad an experience it was. When you love something like we do and know it's not particularly amazing it makes it a very personal experience to hear about how bad it was. It's like an in-joke all our own. Something only we'll ever understand and really appreciate.

That was really an excellent interview, as everyone has mentioned! He still has that charisma that he brought to the role of Toad.

I really hope we can snag some other cast interviews in the future!

Great job Ryan and Steven and thanks for sharing!

Awesome read! Very detailed and descriptive. It was very cool for him to take some interest in revisiting something he did so long ago that clearly no one else wants to talk about. Thanks Mojo and thanks Phlibbit!!!

That was a very enlightening read, indeed. Some things certainly chime with what's been said before in past interviews.

I thank you for putting this together. I truly appreciate the effort that goes into this stuff. It's always interesting to hear what someone from the movie has to say about it!

Hey. (I'm new).

I know this is an old thread but I just read the interview. Amazing! It's really great that the guy's not a diva of any kinda (not that Hopper was or many of the cast would be) so he just tells it like it is.

From my perspective, the reputation this film has had has always been as if the project never had a chance but from the little I've seen on this site it seems like there actually was some proper substance to it in the beginning. Good to know I'm not crazy for seeing some sort of potential when watching the movie (amidst the numerous times I do).

Reading these interviews really does give an indication that so much more was planned than what we see on film. Reading the early scripts only drives that point home.

However, once you get to the Deleted Scenes page you'll realize that they actually did complete a fair amount. Most of it was just cut for time and rating, unfortunately.

I'm glad you enjoyed Mojo's interview. It was awesome as hell to talk to him. His interview continues to be one of the most entertaining, focused, and thoughtful ones on the site.

And about rewatching the film--I always could catch something new or interesting with repeat viewings, but after doing things like these interviews, it only gets better and better every time I watch it.
