As always, get some good questions in. I can't wait to hear what he has to say about his role in the film.

Ask him why after Iggy and Spike introduce Daisy to her "father," why do they disappear from the movie? Were there any more scenes shot for them, other than the scene post-credits?

Good question. And from my research, there are lots of answers to that question...

We've also contacted Fisher Stevens manager about an interview, but he's currently in Africa filming a documentary, so don't discount the possibility of us speaking to him as well at some point!

This is my questions:

Did you filmate a scene where you told the Marios the story of Dinohattan after his demise?

Did you know that the movie was based on a video game?

Do you know about a long cut of the movie?

interview with Richard Edson! YAY!

I have to ask: Does he remember filming the rap number with Fisher Stevens in the Boom Boom Bar that is pictured on the promo card? How long was it and was it dubbed over with "Walk the Dinosaur"?

Also, going along with the possible extended scenes that they were in, was there an extended stalking scene with Daisy in Brooklyn the would explain why the driver's side door of their yellow car was missing after the restaurant scene? It was there the first time they spotted Daisy, but not in that other scene. Always struck me funny as to how it randomly happened as if to demonstrate their driving skills :D

Also, I just want to know if working on this film was a pleasurable experience for him or not? And how was his relationship with the other actors on and off the set?

That would be great as well! Yeah Fisher Stevens has become quite a good filmmaker actually, so it doesn't surprise me that he's off filming a documentary. He also had a brief, but good appearance on Lost.

Would love to see an interview happen!

Like David's interview, we also wanted to give an update on Richard's. We had to postpone it for a couple weeks because of distractions in Richard's life, but he finally got back to us this weekend and Ryan and myself were able to conduct it yesterday, on Sunday. It went on for about two hours and was definitely very informative. You'll be surprised to hear how involved Richard was with the development Iggy and Spike's characters and roles in the story! :D

I'll start transcribing this interview soon after I'm Done with David's and, considering it's length, will probably be up much sooner.

Yeah, sorry for the delay on this one. The David Snyder interview took a few weeks to fully transcribe and that was after several interviews that came before. Richard's interview is about as long, but I have begun transcribing it and hope to get it done for a February update. Just be patient... It's well worth the wait. :)

As you could probably gather from my post, yes, the Snyder interview has been fully transcribed and revised by David himself. We're just waiting on him to get into storage to send us several boxes of production materials which will go up alongside the interview. Just like Richard's interview, it's well worth the wait. :P

Thanks for the comments, both of you! This interview has been a long time coming, but we've only just now finally got everything on track to have consistent, high-profile updates for the new month or more! Richard's interview felt like a good way to launch this second revival of updates.

Hopefully there was something talked about that caught the interest of all of you. He certainly had some interesting experiences to share. :P

Great interview there. There's always so much more to learn about this movie. Interesting that him and Stevens were the ones primarily responsible for much of Spike and Iggy's dialogue. Also always interesting to hear about more of Jankel and Morton's wacky antics.

I'd also be very interested in watching that short documentary the film society people are apparently interested in making.

What intrigues me most about this interview is that Richard talks about the process of filming and what sounds like his pleasant experience with the actors and crew. He had a very different response to the questions that I expected him to have. It sounds, too, that he had so much fun making the movie, had so much freedom with ideas and acting, and cherished his relationships with everyone that he was sad to see it end. But, at the same time, overjoyed because the process was also confusing and constantly changing in detail. But, I guess for him and Fisher, it worked out fine. You know, with the right director, a more original and less watered down script, this film could've have done much better than it really did.

This post is coming a bit late, but our update really made a splash across the Internet! Sites such as Kotaku, The Escapist, GoNintendo and Reino do Cogumelo (Spanish) provided exposure to our interview with Richard, which you should all read again! :P

Now, the reason I decided to revisit this interview is because I happened to stumble upon an amusing comment on one of the numerous "Bob Hoskins hates Mario Bros." articles that popped up a couple weeks ago. As seen in the comments for IndieWire's The Playlist article 'Bob Hoskins Would Like To Forget He Ever Made ‘Super Mario Bros.’', user bropacalypse says:

bropocalypse wrote:Thanks to this article, I spent the last half-hour of my life researching and learning more about the Super Mario Bros. movie than I ever wanted to know…

In my travels, I stumbled onto this ridiculously thorough and frequently updated fan site for the film: http://www.smbmovie.com/

I liked it when I was a kid but had no idea some fans of the movie were so rabid. The interview with Richard Edson is particularly funny cause they’re asking him these insane fanboyish questions about a film he clearly barely remembers making, and it goes on for like, FOREVER

Now, isn't that sweet of him to admire our passion? xD
