That's right, folks--we've pulled another surprise out of our never-ending bag of SMB Movie surprises.

We've snagged an exclusive interview with Rob Burman, who was in charge of heading the team that created the Koopa Creature seen during the film's climax.

Solid interview!! I loved seeing all the shots of the Koopa stage 2 prosthetic head (one of my favorite parts about the film, its just so menacing). I had always wished the de-evolved Koopa had more scenes, like an extended fight scene. It's too bad that all of that work only got a few seconds of screen time, it definitely deserved more! Thanks for sharing!!

The "hybrid" Koopa was always really cool and just superbly designed. Considering how much it would have been featured throughout the story it's surprising how they did go all-out for at least one scene.

There was always hope that they cut de-evolution "tics", but Burman's statements seem to close the lid on that possibility. At least we have closure and know we weren't missing out on anything. Good thing, too, considering how much we are missing out on.

The "patterned and tribal" skin for the hybrid Koopa is just plain cool. It's creepy and almost more realistic.

Nice, it's probably a little too intense for a Disney audience, though.
