I have the movie novel, the video and the DVD, also I once borrowed the soundtrack cassette from my local library.

I used to have a couple of the figures, and when KFC were doing Super Mario Bros. movie maze puzzles my brother had one with a picture of King Koopa on it.

I wasn't aware KFC had done any promotional work for the film... Can you recall any details about it?

Unfortunately, no. I didn't know about KFC doing promotional work. All I remember is I viewed the puzzle and I was like "Who the heck is this guy??" It was only when I got the novel (I got this in my school's annual book sale drive, before I saw the movie) when I realised the guy in the pic was King Koopa! LOL

Huh, I guess you DO learn something everyday.
Isn't this a little feminine?

Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.

But you wear this stuff?!

Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

This is interesting, I've also never heard of KFC doing promo stuff for the film. You're in England though, right? Do they have KFCs in England?

We sure do! Gotta love their popcorn chicken

I would love to get the soundtrack CD for the movie. Perhaps if I have any money left over after next Monday (which just happens to be my birthday!), I might bid for or buy it on EBay? :?:

Hey did anyone here manage to score the police car set that was on ebay not too long ago?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... MEWAX%3AIT

I was hoping to get it considering how rare and awesome they are, and I think I remember Phlibbit saying he'd love to see a video of two of those police cars crashing into each other haha.

Here's a picture of one of those KFC puzzles mentioned earlier in the thread, is this the only known one in existence?

^Holy crap!

That's the first one of these I've seen. So from the back of this that means there's six of these? If I would have to guess I'd bet the others probably featured some of the other "official" art type things we've seen (like on the POGs, 7-eleven cups, etc).

Is this yours or is it for sale somewhere? It'd be great to get more info on these.

I've called KFC corporate and am waiting on a call-back from the PR department. They need to get into the historical archives since anyone who worked at the company back in '93 is either no longer there or in a different position.

However, if there's any copyright information or indication of who produced the toys on the packaging I can look elsewhere.

Yes it's mine, I have a small collection of videogame merchandise so have kept it since 1993.

I'm considering selling the puzzle if I can get a decent price, however as it's not something I'll be able to replace I'm giving it some thought.

As for more info it says "© WMG Nottingham" on the back, it seems they are still in business making promotinal items but I think they're a small company as they don't appear to have a website.

Their contact details:

It's definitely rare, but I'm not sure you can sell it for the price that you're asking. It's a hard economy right now, so you're best either dropping your asking price or waiting until things pick up.

This reminds me: I should give KFC another call. Still very interesting.

Ok, I don't know if this is a gimmick or a real promo item, but the seller said this item was sent to video stores in order to promote the release of the movie on video. He found it in a video store that went out of business. Redstar or Phlibbit, have you ever come across one of these before?

That link you sent appears to be down, but yeah--the promotional plunger is totally legit. I have one myself. It's just a miniature plunger with the SMB logo and maybe (now on video!) on a sticker on the handle. Pretty cool.

It's not a particularly rare item, but it doesn't become available very often. I would have to add that, at a $0.99 starting bid, it's definitely a steal. If the price stays down I'd recommend getting it.

The is a picture of me with my only Super Mario Bros. movie paraphernalia. Hopefully there will be more to come in the future. This is the official soundtrack CD and DVD.

I was lucky enough to snag one of these off of amazon.com a few months ago, and I must say that I can't get enough of it. These songs, no matter how ridiculous, like I Want You by Marky Mark, or how fun and energetic like Walk The Dinosoaur by George Clinton & The Goombas, are all great. If you pick up a copy these songs will likely grow on you, no matter how badly they scream '80's and '90's.

I have the DVD, CD, VHS and a framed print of the theatrical poster. Why sell the DVD? No one uses VHS, anymore.
What would you do without your big brother?

I use the VHS often, hell I don't even bother with DVD anymore unless I can't find the movie on VHS. Besides, VHS copies are cheaper, most of the movies I got at Goodwill were like 99 cents, hell they used to be 69 cents!

All right, just as long as you know the film in a VHS tape is going to completely degrade into nothing in about ten or fifteen years.

I didn't Know much about the movie when I got the DVD. I rented the movie from Netflix. And when I returned I knew I had to have it so I just got the DVD without really considering getting it on any other format. I also have a t-shirt, novel, and 'Cinematic Wlmington' by Jean Nance on the way in the mail, which will all hopefully be here soon! Also, our VHS player has been somewhere in the back of the basement for quite some time now. Though a lot of my chia rite childhood classics are on VHS so maybe I'll have to break it out again some time!

That price is ridiculous. Just as ridiculous as the $1300 police car that's currently up for auction!

However, that shirt is in amazing condition. I have one of those myself...maybe I'll put it on eBay but at a slightly lower price...to prove my point.

Also, welcome back, Zack! Post more!!

Funnily, I was actually thinking of the film's T-shirt designs earlier and was thinking of messaging Zack about it.
