Dude, if I had that playset, I would totally stop motion the meltdown scene, re-animating it, AGAIN.

Oh yeah, did anybody on this forum buy the SMB movie press kit guide on ebay they had up a couple days ago? I was going to get it but I'm to low on funds.

Does anyone have the Moviestars to Microchips book on the making of the movie? I've seen a few copies online, been really wanting to get it. Anything cool in it?!

Of course--I have it. Definitely worth it if you can find it cheap. Lots of good behind the scenes info and pics.

So, Mario's favorite quote is "nobody touches my tools", cool

if you look carefuly, the merchandise take elements from the deleted scenes and the second early draft script

for example, the Story Casette says "the heart is a bubbling stew of primordial ooze", like the second draft, and the dialoge of the crazy old lady from the cassette is similar to the draft

awesome

Which of course was deleted from the movie lol I always was like "he never says that"

Makes me wonder where Koopa's line "I guess I'm not a good guy" would have been if anywhere..

I thought he said "I'm not such a bad guy" when he was talking to the King. It's either a deleted line, or they messed up with the quote.

I love this book!!! Even though it's obviously for younger kids, it offers explanations, behind the scenes photos, history and other things, some of which we know, some that we didn't and some cool trivia about the making of the film. I definitely recommend it if you can find it cheap. It originally sold for $6.95, It was $4.40 something with shipping lol so like $11, not bad for a 16 year old book.

i think the only SMB movie related product i had, other than the movie, was a t-shirt that had a slightly scary picture of a De-evolved Koopa mugshot and it said something like "Join Koopa" i think. I used it as my Pajama shirt when i was little.

PS: Its up you you guys if you want to post a pic of what im talking about, im not asking anybody. :P

That's awesome! My buddy had a t-shirt with Yoshi from the movie. It had his name, and showed him eating big blocks or bricks with his tongue.

Its funny because I got him to admit that he had that shirt once. Most of the time he would deny owning such a thing.

Nice!! There are some pages in that helping prove there are deleted scenes right? I'm actually getting a big package soon of SMB merchandise. Hopefully I will be able to post pictures when I get it.

The merchandising for this movie was intense. While Mario has always been marketable, it's just astounding the things they presumed would sell because of the movie.

haha love it! Especially the artwork with Luigi looking behind his back.

I found a French website that has a thread on the merchandise, pictures and all. I had to sign up to view the pictures, so let me know if you guys can't view it.

Perusing eBay auctions and found two items that might be of interest to anyone here:

UK Quad Movie Poster

and

Japanese movie programme

The movie brochure features scenes and characters from the movie, so it might depict deleted scenes. The poster is about $30 and the programme $16, though the poster has a "make an offer" option so I imagine it could be bought for something more appropriate. Thoughts? :D

I...have the Japanese move program. It's really cool, haven't looked at it in a while. The text is all in japanese of course...any easy ways to get it translated? Like maybe a picture to text thing?

So no indication of deleted scenes or other interesting imagery you can draw from what's shown?

I have a contact that does a lot of translation for me, though I try to limit what I ask of him to the most pertinent information. Take some scans/photos of the programme and either upload it to the site, here, or message me with them and I'll see about forwarding them to him if you feel a translation is important enough.

I think the thing may have some interesting nuggets of info we haven't heard about before.

Not sure on the deleted scenes stuff, although it does have some interesting production photos.

It also has some really (really) good stuff on behind the scenes/making-of, actor/director/producer profiles, etc.

I'll make it one of the first things I scan when I get to that section.

You guys wanted it, now you got it, I have uploaded a video to youtube of me demonstrating how the toy devo gun works, it's only a minute long, but hopefully it gives you guys all the info ya need, I hope you enjoy it. Sorry I haven't been on the threads for a while, but I hope this makes up for it.

Yay, great video! Now I don't have to do one!

The awesome parts about all of this is that the board seems really enamored with the toys and between you and Zack, we have pretty darn good video segments for everything. Thanks!

Maybe me and Zack should join forces and start a mini Super Mario Bros. The Movie Museum. There are still toys that I don't have that I search for to this day. But I appreciate the compliment. I love this forum and this site, and I wanted to share the wealth with the true fans.

I would totally join in on that, but its not like i have anything that you guys don't already own lol. So far the police car is the rarest piece of merchandise that I own from that movie, and still hoping to find more :D

PowerGlove, I need your assistance. Could you make a decent 10-20 second sound-clip of the Devo Gun's first SFX (sounds like "b'dyeeow, b'dyeeow")?

I was watching your YouTube video and I realized that it's pretty much the same sound made by the Ghost Dematerializer in The Ghost Busters, the SFX of which I CANNOT find at all for the prop replica I have planned. If you can make an MP3 file of it, I can slow it down with Audacity and use it.

Now that I've suitably driven this off-topic, let's all go back to SMB moichandising. Where de real money comes from!

That's exactly what they are, with the record-player whatsit thing. I'm not sure if the ones I have are busted or if it's just the passage of time on the voices, but the voices are skewed. You can hear what they're saying but they don't sound like they should.[/quote]

I would definitely be interested in what the two talking dolls sound like, considering i kinda want them now haha. Phlibbit is it possible for you to do a video showing them talking? If not, no worries, I'm just curious.

Hi, I'm a Mario collector. I've visted this site a few times in the past but have never posted until now. I'm here to show the Mario movie stuff I have. Hope you all enjoy!

My favorite collectible I own, the Devo Gun toy:
Image

A giant cardboard movie promotional display still in the shipping box complete with instructions and everything (this is the display Philibbit posted a photo of on the first page of this topic):

The Devo Chamber and Police Car both sealed and in awesome condition:

One of the movie's trailers:

Three sealed boxes of the cards:

The action figures:

The soundtrack on tape:

A Yoshi pin on card:

The Golden book:

A near complete set of the cards loose:

Of course, two videos and the DVD:

Hope I didn't miss anything. For those interested, you can see my full collection here.

Great collection there, collector! The color-scheme of Yoshi on that pin just kills me. xD

If you're a real collector I'd recommend tracking down the foreign releases, which have better qualities and some special features. The German DVD release of the movie has a "Making of" featurette you can't see anywhere else... Unless, of course, this very site. :D
