I came across this abstract fan video today featuring Jurassic Park toys, Mass Effect 3, and Super Mario Bros. Mario and Luigi in the Crash Action Police Car! Although the video is weird, its cool to see other fan vids featuring SMB Movie toys.

That's pretty cool! The police car action figure is one of the best parts of that toy line. Always glad to see the few people that do have that item are having fun with it :)

I agree Phlibbit. The police car is my favorite toy in that line as well (considering I own four of them now, haha). Glad you like the video. I'm hoping that we can find more vids or collections that feature the SMB toys. Draw them to the website here, perhaps.

If I had any of these toys, I would never take them out of the box. Nope, they'd go on the shrine I built to the movie, NRFB.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

I know where you're coming from. One of my police car sets is MISB and I have a set of the action figs MOC. They do display pretty nicely. However, I like the collection I have that's loose/complete, which I also think displays really well, especially since you can pose the action figs. I do the same with my TMNT toy collection. :)

Heya Redstar, any luck on being able to interview Mr. Christy on the SMB toyline? I'd love to hear about it!

I've E-mailed him periodically about the editorial, but he rarely responds and when he does it is only to assure me that he still intends to do it. I haven't messaged in some time, though, so perhaps I should now just to check in.

I actually just won the Devo Chamber on Ebay but the stickers are peeling and the pipes are missing but it does come with the exclusive Goomba with the red velvet coat. I may try to make my own pipes out of PVC or something similer so it looks complete. I'll still keep my eye out for a complete one.

I can't believe how much this guy is asking for his Crash Action Police Car..... o___0

I know they are worth a lot, but I didn't think this much.

Wow, that's pretty ridiculous. I love how it's "new" but he opened the box to make sure everything was in there. And the box is in pretty bad shape to be asking that price.

Does anyone know if the goomba head was intended to be used for koopa? As the goomba figure looks nothing like the goombas in the film. Also interesting that on the profile of koopa on the back of the card ertl used the de-evolved koopa image instead of the Dennis hopper humanoid koopa.

From what I can only guess they may have intended to use the goomba sculpt for koopa but for whatever reason perhaps a tight dead line they dropped the idea and used it for the goomba instead? It would be great if anyone can confirm this or has some info.

Good question. If you look back on the last page you'll see that we discussed just that very issue. We were able to get in touch with Ian Christy, a man who was at the ERTL studio, and from him we discovered that there was an unused figure head for a T. rex-Koopa.

We have yet to share photos or the article that Ian wrote, but I can give a little preview below:

Is anyone else watching this Police Car set on ebay? It's got a decent bidding war going on right now. (Not at all like what that last seller was asking for his)

Question: who else here thinks that we should start an Ebay thread for all SMB merchandise?

I've never seen this item listed before, very rare!

i though that i´ll never see the devo gun in package. By the way, check this review for the "koopa with action devo gun" figure

http://chrispearce.wordpress.com/2014/0 ... toys-1993/

also, i just received my Mario figure :D

I don't own one, but I've seen the pictures. What's up with the Devo Chamber? Why does fungus come out of it? The fungus never de-evoled anyone! It's just strange considering what a good job they did with the police car.

I think ERTL was just trying to cram as many references to the look and feel of the film into those more deluxe playsets as possible.

The Devo Chamber primarily functions as it does in the film, letting you de-evolve people and stuff. Although, if I was a kid, I would also let it double for Devo 4, where the fungus that comes out is Daisy's father.
