Super Mario Bros. Novelization

Postby AngeloThomas » Wed Jun 15, 2011 8:44 pm

Was there ever a movie novelization made? If so, could someone provide linkage to purchasing. Thanks!

There was in fact a novelization for the film, which was written by acclaimed Young Adult author Todd Strasser. His novelization was somewhat darker in tone from the film and included a number of deleted/alternate scenes. As it stands, it's the best indication we have as to the likely structure of an extended early cut of the film.

You can read about the novel's differences from the film here. Once you've bought and read the book for yourself you're welcome to discuss it on our forums here. :P

You should be able to get the book off any site, including Amazon, eBay and Alibris Books now that you have the author's name... Just look around for the best price and you should be set. :D

FYI, here are two eBay links to people selling the novel:

http://cgi.ebay.com/SUPER-MARIO-BROTHER ... 3368cc52e7

http://cgi.ebay.com/JUMANJI-1995-SUPER- ... 2a11a64481

The first is the US version and the second is the Australian. Get 'em while you still can!

Sadly, I'm in no position to afford it at the moment. :(

I might have gone for the one with Jumanji (particularly as I like that cover), but the shipping here would be almost $15. :(

Super Mario Bros. Novelization

Postby AndrewTheBeatnik » Thu Aug 09, 2012 12:49 pm

So I just won an auction for 'Super Mario Bros.' the novelization version of the movie by Todd Strasser. It was a pretty good deal. Only $3.75 including shipping. It was a little worn, but all of the pages are in tact and good to go. Does anybody have any reviews or comments regarding the book? I also ordered a cool t-shirt.

128 Page Paperback Print - Todd Strasser Novel

Postby AndrewTheBeatnik » Tue Aug 14, 2012 3:22 pm

My copy of the Super Mario Bros. novel by Todd Strasser finally came in the mail today, after waiting in anticipation for about a week. Sure it's an easy read, but if you're a fan of the movie I would recommend giving it a go. The item only cost $3.75 from eBay.com, which is a good deal for any book, I would say.

There are eight double sided pages of photo stills from the movie in the middle of the 128 page paperback print. I am only a few chapters from the start of the book, and there has already been an unseen deleted scene from the movie written in it. I can't wait to finish!
