Thank You, Mario, But Our Princess is in Another Castle Song

Postby Serum » Wed Jan 04, 2012 12:37 pm

This is a song I thought everyone might enjoy. It's by a band called The Mountain Goats, and it's written from the perspective of Toad in the original "Super Mario Bros." game.

It's weird, but it's actually kind of touching and really sort of sweet. My favorite part is when he says "I said the one thing I know how to say, backed by the drone of 8-bit choirs."
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

Exactly what you said. Sweet and cute, though still not the most stimulating work.

Most of the Mountain Goats music is actually very hateful, so this was a different take for them. This is about as light-hearted as they get, I think.

Imagine all of their other music being angry songs like Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone." They sound happy, but the lyrics to most of their songs are very, very mad.

Also a very cute song, though I think I like the Mountain Goats song a little better, if for no other reason because that song doesn't have any references to "Waluigi" in it.
