Looks like the makers of Wreck-It Ralph want to put Mario in the sequel.
http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=97811. So it looks like our favorite plumber could be returning to theaters in some capacity.

I'm actually excited about this believe or not. Sure some fans of the smb movie will go "HERESAY! MARIO'S FIRST MOVIE WAS GOOD ENOUGH!"
But I actually want to where they'll go with him. My only real hope is that he'll have a big role in the movie.

It's about time Mario will get the movie treatment he deserves. He better talk too, and if he does I am 99.99% sure he will be voices by Martinez, which is totally fine with me.

This is heresy and I'm not okay with this. Furthermore, I can't stand Martinet's voice for Mario.

While that'd certainly be interesting how would they make it work? I can't think of many good plot points that involve Mario being the bad guy.

That seems a bit out of character for Mario. Plus it seems a bit too similar to King Candy's motivation

If done right, we could easily see a Wreck-It Ralph sequel launching a spinoff into a true animated Mario film from either Pixar or Disney.

That is exactly what I think could (and hope does) happen. I don't expect us to get a true sequel of OUR film, but "Mario on film" is an idea I definitely would like to see continue.

This is all a very bad idea. Please, the movie we have is perfect, don't let it be buried by "modern standards."

I disagree, I want a Mario movie for today, the way a Mario movie should be. Our movie will still be around, but if they make a new one, we could maybe get that blu-ray release.

A new Mario movie would only make the original more apparent. Anytime someone would Google the movie they would end up finding information on both the new and old version, only making it all the more popular. It would also make a re-release all the more likely as Disney, owning the distribution rights to the film, would want to cash in.

Either way, there's no way I'm going to sit through a two hour movie featuring Charles Martinet as most of the voices and probably includes Waluigi as a character, despite the fact that Waluigi isn't a character, but an abomination.

I realy don't think they'd have Wario or Waluigi, if they do it right it wuold be the main characters. I could see Martinet as Mario and Luigi, and pro voice actors as Peach, Bowser, and Toad etc. I honestly don't think Martinets voice is bad when he has full sentences for Mario, like someone posted in another thread of the Ask Mario vids at Comic Cons, they're humerous, he actually brings life to the character rather than, woo-hoo, wahooey, yahoo. Such life into the character IMO it could even be up there with Lou Albano.

Who said Martinet would be cast as Mario? And who said he'd use the regular mario voice? And who said that WALUIGI would be in this?!
I think you're judging a movie way too hardly, especially one that may not even come into fruition just yet! I'm sure Waluigi wouldn't be in it, and I'm sure Martinet would use a lower deeper Mario voice or be replaced by someone else. There is a thing called taking liberties you know and I'm sure that the writers would more than happily cut Waluigi out of the picture entirely.

Just about everything in this topic is speculation, so no sense getting worked up over any of it.

I'm just leery, because they're already planning on remaking "The Brave Little Toaster" in CGI and making the character of Radio into an iPod. I don't need that happening to the greatest movie ever made. I couldn't care much less about the games, I really haven't played a Mario game since 1997. But the movie, the 1993 movie is the ultimate depiction of the characters created by Shigeru Miyamoto and it should not be altered from Parker Bennett and the others' visions.

It shouldn't be that bad though, everything gets remade one time or another. Never saw the little toaster, I think I saw the nostalgia critic vid of it though. I bet though if/when they do make a new mario movie, it will draw more fans in to the original movie like Redstar said, and it will give it a bigger audience. They do that all the time. i still think if a new one is made they should reference the original movie and have a torn 1 sheet of the theatrical film or reference it someway. Maybe introduce it like Toxic Avenger 4 did with it's sequels.
"over 20 years ago a mario bros movie was made, sorry about that, this is the real movie!"
