So I found on youtube a guy had posted all the songs from the movie, and uploaded them on megaupload to download. So after I'd do some huge animated scene for my spy cartoon, I would add in the background music to the anime movie, in the correct spots. I just completed that, next thing is to add the sound effects. Most of the sound effects are suprisingly from the original SMB game. But yeah I plan on dubbing this, using the same voice for Mario, I used in the deleted scene. But now I think it has a touch of Carl (add the red hat and jumpsuit, he looks like Bob Hoskins Mario) from AQTHF mixed with it. Luigi I'm still thinking if he should sound a bit like Borat, but with a Brooklyn accent, or just go straight for the Danny Wells, and SMB3 and SMW VA.
So if anybody is interseted, I am still in search for main characters,
King Koopa, Goomba 1, and /Goomba 2
There are various short lasting characters that are in there too. If anybody's intersted reply on this, or send a PM.
I would like to also note this is just a side thing, with what I do after animating pain in the ass scenes from 0069. It took me 2 days just to animate the character stabbing somebody in the face, jumping on a four wheeler, and driving foreward off camera really fast. It's a pain in the ass, after that I finished up mixing the rest of the soundtrack to the audio.

It's funny you should bring up the Borat comparison...I have a character I like to call "Borat Mario", the long-lost third Mario brother who claims to have grown up in Kazakhstan but actually grew up in New Jersey.
He came about one day at anime club. I tried to do a Borat impersonation but failed miserably. Someone then pointed out that I sounded more Italian than Kazakh, and, in a moment of inspiration, I just went, "Hey, paisanos! I'm-a Borat Mario, the little-known-a third-a Mario brother! High-five, a-very nice-a!" And everyone cracked up at that.

I don't want to sound like a douche, but this project may have landed on the shelf of things to do someday. I finished 99.0% of background music. I saved the video files re-watched and thought to myself, that needed a sound effect. It's such a difficult project, but I was suprised I found the time to actually add all the music and sound effects, and new sound effects to match the scenes.
Maybe I'll upload them on youtube someday, but I feel like I put too much hard work in it that I should be in control of voice directory. I could see somebody downloading the videos and adding their own VO's to them, after I put so much effort into what I did, even though I don't own the characters in anyway, that's just how I feel.

Here is a link to the audition trailer if anybody is interested
Can you guys give me some feedback if that's how the Bros' should sound? Or should I audition others? I really want to do Mario myself, and want to know if it's Bob Hoskins/Captain Lou stylish enough? Honestly if it's not done, this is what I think, is the closest thing we're going to get that is Mario movie related, and it won't happen unless it's done. SO if anybody is actually following this thread, let me know.

Well, I'd like to audition for the voice of Luigi. But how do I send you a copy of my audition tape.

Last update until it's complete, the movie is 95% dubbed, I'm just waiting for Toad/Kinopio, which the actress for Peach is doing, and a few one liners, and some crowd cheering. Last call, if anybody wants to take part.
For a sneak peak, here is my English only end credit titles.

Wow. Sorry I haven't kept up with this thread, but that's some really nice work there. You ended up doing Mario/Luigi voices didn't you? If so, you made the right choice, lol. Can't wait to see the completed product.

Yeah I totally did. Some kid was emailing me saying he could do a Charles Martine Mario/Luigi style voice for it, I gave him a chance, he never sent me anything, then he tried to control the whole project, then out of nowhere he's like I QUIT! I'M DOING IT ON MY OWN! and I'm just like, okay, you weren't even hired.
But yeah, I worked on my Mario voice and he sounds more like Bob Hoskins/Captain Lou or some burly guy from the Bronx, while Luigi kind of straight out sounds like Borat.

Well I just finished watching the first rough cut of the dub, it's good, kind of weird hearing my voice 90% of the movie, hopefully it won't be noticable to viewers that it's me doing all the voices, excluding 4 other characters. The only thing missing from the dub is grunts and screaming, and a dog's voice Kibedango, other than that, it will be ready and for you guys and everyone else to see.
But with a broken hand, and possible surgery coming up, or just the fact a cast being on my drawing hand, there may be some delays.

Ok the rough cut of the movie done, but here is the main problem. I recently broke my hand and had surgery. My right hand is out for a while, but once its back, Ill be back on my feet or in this case hands. This sucks so much, for those who want to punch a wall, be careful not to hit a stud dead center. Thats all I gotta say.

Here it is, a trailer. Not really sure if it will be delayed I really hope not. I think it will be fine though. Check it out.
Welp, only 6 days until New SMBWii, so that means it's going to be 6 days of MARIO on my youtube page this week! (Hopefully) Everyday this week I will be uploading each part of the Mario anime on my youtube page http://www.youtube.com/diveoffaroofinc. Saturday night/Sunday evening will be the day I upload the final segment. It took 8 months to finish this, and 2 years in my mind. So here's the link, hope you all enjoy, and leave some feedback on it.
Awesome job, man! I'll come back with my full judgment when I watch all the parts, I'm about halfway through.

I was just about to post about that. It's not exactly hard to do... Just need some DVD authoring software, which is free or cheap, depending on your tastes, and with whatever your intention can result in a simple, static menu or have a professional work with special features (I wouldn't mind a "Making of" addition ) and everything.
The you'd just need to link to the files (need the right file-type) and we can burn to disc. Perfectly legal, if you're worried about that, as long as we own the original DVD. I'd gladly buy the original just so I can get your work on top of it.

I am actually three days a head of you guys. I made a DVD on Pinnacle(wanted to watch it on TV), but I don't think it's done yet. I want commentary(which I want to be very drunk for) and a late new trailer I put together for the hell of it. Once those two things are done I'll put it up as a bittorent or something. I'm not to sure how to upload a DVD with its menus.
The idea for a mini behind the scenes would be cool to make. It could show the ups and dones while making it. There litteraly was a controvercy with me and this one online kid about the movie. He even left bad comments on the Peach sample, audition, and the the rough cut on the first 10 minutes. He e-mailed me saying he wanted to be every character, and he wanted the N64-to now, Mario voice. I told him no, then he replied to me saying this quote
"You know what... I QUIT! your version of the movie sucks! it's not good editing on sounds and music, and the voices are terrible! I will go on working on my version of the fandub. from now on it's a battle of the fandubs! oh, and Kira Buckland will be Peach for my fandub; she is after all a professional voice actress."
I really can't wait to bash him on the commentary. He wasn't even hired and sent me this e-mail. Plus it will be fun to make fun of me breaking my hand. As a "Oh no! The project might be delayed!" scene. Give me some ideas for bonus features, some may awnt to see on the DVD.

I like special features. They make me feel like my money was well-spent. Doesn't matter how exciting the features are... As long as they're there, I'm happy because the experience doesn't have to end at the movie. It just feels really cheap and lonely when you have a static menu that plays the movie, and that's it. Put together whatever you like, and I'll watch it. (Don't forget to compile any special features from the official release, if there are any)
The right files necessary to burn to DVD with menus and everything are .BUP, .IFO, and .VOB files. You can try joining http://www.faneditforum.com/ and asking the specifics of DVD authoring, since that's all they do. It's E-mail-to-register, just like here, so if you're up for it it's probably one of the best places I know to get expert advice on putting together a good DVD. Anyone that would rather listen to anything more than five minutes of the Charles Martinet Mario voice is an idiot. It works okay in the games and really captures a nice, whimsical spirit, but if it's pure voice acting, I'd rather jump off a building or something.

That is exactly what I was thinking.I told the kid "Do you really think that voice will be tollerable for an hour?" The voice is great in the games, but not cartoon wise unless it was Charles Martinet voicing them himself(my opinion, nobody can really do that voice but Charles, I've heard so many bad immitations) But still, he tried to fight with me about, and even tried to get me to make two versions. He really doesn't realise how long it takes to put that together.
If I were to make two versions the second one would be adult humor. There's a part where the Hermit tells the Bros about the power ups, and Mario says "Mushrroms, Flowers, Stars?" I really wanted Mario to say "Mushrroms, flowers, stars...you talkin bout drugs?" It took a lot of me not to add that drugs line. I could have even made it very low where nobody could hear it, but didn't take the chance.

Okay, I know how to save a .IFO, Pinnacle Studio automaticly makes a file of it when you burn it. The menus are looking good. Since they are in 16:9 I had to crop some footage specificly for the animated menus. EXP, when you chose scene selection, it will cut to the Hermits cave and pan across till all 3 characters are in picture, then the scenes appear. When clicking bonus features, it will show Mario gazing at his TV until lights pop out of it, then instead of showing Peach being attacked, his TV is blank and all the bonus features are listed on the TV.
I'll try to post some screencaps of the DVD menu.

Here are some perview pics of the menus.
That's pretty much how the DVD menus will look. I am going to change Prison Break Out to THE INVINCIBLE STAR. As I said earlier before the menus appear, it shows an animated segment of the clip then stops at the freeze frame of the menus. All the buttons work, but 1 out of 4 bonus feature is done. There may even be hidden easter eggs, hopefully the DVD withstand all this power.

Looking good. It looks quite professional, though the text seems to blend too well with the backgrounds... Maybe slightly thicker outlines? Alt-text (larger, different color, highlighted, etc.) when the cursor rests on the different options would help as well, if you can manage.
I like the Special Features. Simple, but something I'd watch if they're filled out enough. I'm hoping one of those trailers are for the auditions?

The first trailer is the trailer on youtube right now, the second one I actually dubbed a real Japanese trailer but with alerterations. It is not up on youtube yet, I might just save it for the DVD. I'll be sure to fix the text since this is a first draft. Also believe me, it looks small on a PC screen, but full picture on a TV, its very readable.
BTW, I do not own this movie, it was never released on DVD, only VHS and it goes for more than 700 on Japanese auctions. It is very RARE. The video was supported by somebody on youtube, same goes for the music.

The only trailer currently on Youtube I know of is your fan dub auditions one, which is what I meant. I'm hoping that is included as well, which it might very well be if it's the one you meant.
You're very lucky then. I know how hard it is to find these rare media releases. I'm still looking for things for my own projects.

The first official trailer is this one.
The second trailer is way better. I don't count the auditions tape as a trailer, just a casting call. That is why all audition footage will be kept secretly in easter egg format.
I have no idea how the guy got his hands on the footage, same goes with the guy who uploaded the soundtrack. Seriously without those two, this dub would be something that I would still be itching to make.
I forgot to point out, the main menu is traced over from the original VHS box, WAAAAAAY back before the project even started.

Fun trailer. I especially like the bit about the end, where he questions his nationality.
As long as the audition tape is in there... I love development information, so that's right up there with the commentary.
Again, we're lucky they helped start this. Make sure they get some sort of credit.

Just an update on the DVD, I'm not to sure if there will be commentary. Maybe commentary mini's on certain clips. The reason, I chose to add the Japanese track, so there may not be enough room on the disc. I might change my mind though so who knows. But here are some clips of the new DVD menus
The mushroom sprites don't stand next to some of the features because they are not made yet. I also fixed bonus deatures to features. Also there is a hidden easter egg on the special features menu. Can you guess where it is?

Much better-looking menu! I'm liking how it's turning out, but the mushroom icons seem a bit too much... I think the menu would be better suited having only a single mushroom icon, which moves as you highlight different options.

I altered that mushroom it took about 15 minutes. It's a big influence on the oringal SMB start menu where the mushroom hovers next to player 1 and player 2, and for some reason Pinnacle agrees with me more when I use those icons. They are much easier to work with. When I use words as links to other menus, for some reason it will erase words on the other menus or just replace them with Chapter #. It makes me so mad, so Im sticking with the shroom icons. I'm thinking of changing the icons to stars for the audio options, and flowers for the scene select.
No it's not his nose but that is close!
Also, if anyone knows where to get the exact text from SMB 1, let me know., There is an immitation of it called Arcade font something, and that is not it. That font has lines in the letters, the original is completely solid.

If you can't get it working, I wouldn't try to hard. Just looks a little cluttered, but it's better than having to sit at the computer to watch it. Fire Flowers and Stars sound like a great idea, but Stars would probably fit in better with the Special Features.
His nose came to me first, but then I thought it might be the mustache. Either would have an interesting choice.

The easter egg in the special features is bifar the hardest easter egg to find. It's completely invisible yet easy to find.
I just realised I may be able to fit the JP version, ENG Dub, and a full length commentary if I use a 8GB DL DVD, or even a BDR, which would be awesome but I'm not willing to throw down that much for a single disc.
This goes to everyone, I may have a short time deal going on, for high quality disc label and DVD case when it's done. If anybody is interested PM me.

I litterly just pulled an all nighter putting this DVd together. Started at 2AM and got what I wanted done at 11AM.
As of now Bonus Features are:
Trailers Behind the scenes of the reanimated credit sequence Original English credit animation that was scrapped Commentary (still debating/working on) Three easter eggs (possibly more than 3) and the original Japanese audio
All I have to do is make up clips for the actors to talk about, then splice all the commentary together. This is a great experience making a DVD and, I hope it turns out flawless.
Now if only we could get storyboards to deleted scenes from the live action SMB movie, have others animate them, and I could make an extended version of the movie with the animated Deleted scenes for my long lost SMB:BOOTLEG EDITION.

Unfortunatly, all of those guesses are wrong. I'll just say it's a mushroom and the only way it can be seen is it when it's highlighted.
