Super Mario Brothers (My Fan Film project)

I too am making a remake of the awesome '91 script version. My only complaint is that there's barely any humor in it. Only a few here and there but nothing else. So I decided to add a little more humor to it but not so much as a parody version but you know humor towards everyone. There's also a character change from when Bowser transforms into his mega form. His form is now Giga Bowser from Super Smash Bros. If you play those kind of games, you realize that his design is like his game format but with a little realistic touch as you read now he has torn out of his suit, chains, neckchains, and his shell is now little to him as Bowser's body is the only thing that grew. Don't worry, all the stuff you read from the original is there but some scenes are written different. That's all.

.
Sorry if thats alot.

And also you can't read the script YET as it is "ALSO" in production like many things.
See ya.

"UPDATE"
OK. Now profiles are on the way.
Here are the profiles (that are done)
Mario
Luigi
Big Eddie "Spike" Scapeli
Toad
King Koopa
Kamek
Larry
Here are the profiles (in progress)
Princess Hildy
Lemmy
"UPDATE"
I have to say that the script is being rewritten. Some new scenes that weren't in the uncompleted draft are being typed in. And I decided to complete all the unmade profiles and update the ones I already typed. Meaning, the profiles of Mario, Koopa, Luigi, and Toad will be updated! And I'll add in one more thing. This is gonna be a pretty dang dark view of the games we all know and love.
"UPDATE"
After many rewrites my new vision for the film is WAAAAY different from the '91 version. So as of now, my fan film is now its own movie, with having no connection to the movie instead for some references. The reason is because my vision for this movie has changed GREATLY from when I first worked on it.
When I first worked on the movie I was 11, and didn't fully know what I was doing or was even serious about it. And that showed in my early writings (I mean seriously MARK MCCOY in the role of Kamek?! The heck was I THINKING?!?!)
And now that I'm grown up the ideas I had back then now seem childish, lame, cliche, confusing, copied, and sometimes just plain stupid. I will post my latest vision soon but right now I'm busy. And as I post, Redstar is now moving this to the general forum just as I asked.
UPDATE:
Sorry guys but its true, I decided to put the film in development hell and I dont think I'll get back to it in a long time. But to be honest, I never thought I had the chance to get this thing done when I have no resources or money. So yeah, sorry to bug you guys. But for now this movie is offically in development hell and will be revived when I'm ready for it.

Aww man! Sorry I did that. You see by my version I meant making my own draft version of the script. Sorry if I made you think I was doing a fan film. Actually however that dosen't sound like a bad idea at all! Hey! I think that I'll go with that plan indeed. And I think that if my version is already done, then A. That won't count as stealing the original draft and B. I won't need to look at a hundered drafts. But it may take awhile since I am hovering in the teens era. So I may be a little young to do an independent fan film.

Update alert! Update alert! I am now working on the script to my movie version of the '91 draft as I post!!!!! However I have to say I may have cut the opening sequence down a little too much but in order to make a fan film of it without stealing the script, I had to make changes. Sorry.

But on the bright side lots of the original stuff is there. But a few more game references are in too. Thats my update.
P.S I may have a soundtrack sample too coming soon.

Although the posters didn't show, there now on my site feel free to look at 'em for a while. Actually back to the script, I've gave it a little break for a while so I could go make the stuff for the movie!

But on the bright side I started back on the script and I will continue to for a while.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________
A few updates. Guess what? Since this is like a remake of the '93 film, I decided to add some references from the original to the remake. The most major reference is the character change from Mr. FIELDING to MR. PASCAL. You know the person from the deleted scene where Mario's toolbelt is touched.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
Another soundtrack sample. Notice how this set of tracks aren't from the same game as the first track was. (well most of it). Well the reason I used most of Mario 64's soundtrack is because the music is pure genius. I mean its different but yet its Mario. So in conclusion I could've just let there be music from Mario 64 in this movie but since there's other great pieces of Mario music other than 64 I decicded to use those.
The kingdom is saved.Bowser is defeated/ The Bros. won!The Mario Bros._______________________________________________________________________________________________
Alright. I TOO have decided to add profiles for the film. And no I'm not stealing Merrittheferrit's idea.
*Notes*
Before this project EVEN HAS A SINGLE WORD ON IT, I want to add that this movie (for now) wraps around a "REAL YOUNG" Mario and Luigi as with Princess Hildy. 'Kay.
lol Dude, chill, it's all good.

1upmushroom wrote:Alright. I TOO have decided to add profiles for the film. And no I'm not stealing Merrittheferrit's idea.
lol Dude, you gotta chill out, if you're writing a script, it's a good idea to flesh out your characters anyway. Writing character profiles is a very good way to get to know whoever it is that's in your script, whether it be about the Mario Bros, or any writing form ever. Don't worry, you're not stealing any ideas. Besides, I think it's great you're writing and fleshing out your ideas, the world needs more writers!
Also, I started writing when I was just eleven years old, I'm almost twenty-two now...I haven't writing stopped since, and currently I am working on getting a book published. Don't think that just because two people write something based on the same story in two different ways that it's copying one another, in fact, it happens all the time, just look at all the versions of the Mario Movie scripts! There were lots of people writing their own story based on a game. Remember, your imagination is a muscle, and like a muscle, you should exercise it everyday!
Good luck, I can't wait to read your version, and I'm excited to see how it varies up with the other few people writing their own drafts.

Thanks.

I needed that.
Mario
Age: 14
Size:3.5
Height: 4.6
Weight:175 lbs
Eyes:Blue
Hair:Brown
Occupation:Plumber.
Bio:Born (I think) in 1977 in Brooklyn,NY. Mario was 4 when things took for the worst. His mother was getting very ill and his father was getting rough on him for plumbing wrong. After Luigi was born,4 years went by and their mother was close to death's door. But before she died, she told Mario to take care of Luigi no matter WHAT!!!! So Mario was FORCED to raise Luigi even when he didn't want to. Then when he was 12 Mario and Luigi were going broke and was warned that if they didn't pay the rent, they'd HAVE to go to the brooklyn orphanage as soon as possible. So when times where tuff, Mario had no choice but to borrow money from the world's most feared mafia mob ever to be. And the worst of all was their leader Eddie "Spike" Scapleli. Also his girlfriend Pauline gave him up and left Mario for his puny young cousin Stanley.
Description
Short, stumpy and very, VERY grouchy. He has a greasy mouth, two dark/brown sideburns, and a dirty red cap. He wears an ugly red shirt supported with blue overalls. In this,as much I hate to say it, he's a complete Jerk. I'm serious. He's also very devensive and fights very good. And won't be beaten easliy. He's rough and tough. But runs away if its dealing with Big Eddie Spike.
Notes
Even though I'M playing Mario, I think a good actor would beeeeeeee...........Bob Hoskins. I hate to admitt it but I couldn't find anyone else as good as him. He's everything that Mario SHOULD be.

Danny DeVito sort of fits those requirements...of course, he was set to play Mario in the movie, but backed out at the last minute.

Luigi
Age:10
Size:2.4
Height:6.9
Weight:100 lbs.
Occupation:Plumber Apretincing.
Bio: A more kid-friendly guy, Luigi was born in 1981 right when the bros mother was ill. Luigi also didn't have a real rough releationship with his father like Mario did. Luigi wasn't forced to plumb, in fact he was told to be anything he wants to be unlike Mario who didn't get that option. Also Luigi's the one who got the father's swiss army knife, not Mario.
Description
Tall, skinny and nice. Luigi often plays around in the apartment, screwing around with the tools, watching T.V, annoying Mario mostly. He wears a blue shirt, green overalls, and a green cap. His clothges are ALOT cleaner and nicer than Mario's. He also dosen't fight alot, nor does he yell, or scream. Like the games, Luigi is afraid of most things.
*Notes*
I think either Jim Carey or Sila Lebeoulf. Athough someone's ALREADY playing Luigi.

First of all he's supposed to be tall. And second, did you read the above post? nI said "This story wraps around A REAL YOUNG Mario and Luigi". Also I know Luigi's not HUGE, so I'll shorten him down to 6'9.

6'9 is still like, four, five inches than the average American, but, it's your story, we'll see where it goes.

Eddie "spike" Scapeli
Full Name: Edward "Spike" Scapeli
Age:21
NickNames: Spike (ordinary people call him) Big Eddie (The Mob calls him)
Occupation : Mob gang leader/Foreman
Size: 4.5
Height: 7.9
Weight : 185
Bio
Born in 1970, Eddie is the son of the original Mob leader, "Anthony Scapeli". Eddie, before he became the mob owner wanted to be part of a wrecking crew, since he can't resist the neat look of construction and wrecking stuff. So in 1978 he got a wrecking crew for his birthday. And not only was it because Eddie wanted one. But also because it was a perfect cover to hide Eddie's other job as the mob leader. Eddie met Mario in 1988. But something happened and now they don't see each other alot any more.
Description
Tough, strong and deadly. Eddie sometimes uses his name "Spike" to control his wrecking crew and maybe screw around with crew workers. He has thick black hair and a greasy handle-bar moustache. He also may wear his seargent like glasses in a hot day. The reason most people don't know who Eddie is is because no one knows who the mob leader is except Mario.
"Notes"
Actually this ones uncasted. He is open if someone wants to play him. (Just privite message me if you want to audition.)

Toad
Age:12
Size:3.4
Height:6.4
Weight:110 lbs.
Bio: His past is surrounded in total mystery. All we see of his past is a picture in his pocket. In it are two people hugging each other. Toad met the Bros at the streets of Rougeport, asking for money.
Description
Average height, a little tough. He has a motorcycle helmet that's painted white with red circles. He wears a dark blue jacket with the shoulders cut out. His pants are white. A little dirty. And his boots are brown. He's also brown skinned. Plus he wears black gloves. Kind of like the ones Wario wears with his biker outfit.
"Notes"
I actually know a friend who fits those requirements. But to me this is what the Mojo Dixon dude SHOULD'VE looked like.
_______________________________________________________________________________________________
King Koopa
Age:41
Size:4.2
Height:8.8
Weight:145
Bio
His past is a little more detailed than his in the games or the movie. His father was a coward. A chicken. Yet he was king of their kingdom called "Land Of The Koopas". Before Koopa took over "The Mushroom Kingdom" however, they were both friendly neighbors. In fact these two were awesome together. But one day there was a problem with the two kingdoms. Appereantly there were racists in the mushroom knigdom saying that the folk of the land of koopas were dangerous, untrusting, evil, and cold hearted. The reason was because most of the people in the land of the koopas WERE all those things. Koopa being the biggest example of all but nobody NOT EVEN his own parents knew about it. Mainly 'cause he WASN'T at first. But when the conference meeting was in session, Koopa had an idea that the king disapproved of. Ya see the idea was to imprison ALL of the racists and lock them up in the dungeon. The king wasn't too overjoyed with the idea and wanted to decline it immediately. However Koopa was furious with this! He wanted to proceed with the project and the king was un noticed. However slowly BUT surely, The King knew about the continuation and ordered the ENTIRE ARMY to assult and CONQUER the kindom and throw Koopa's family in the dungeon. And his dad of course just surrendered to the kingdom and the family was in the dungeon. Now with full rage, Koopa broke out and headed to the castle. What he did to the king is unkown, but he was able to get to the kids and actually killed Margret's sister, Daisy. But the king's right hand man, Toadsworth came and was able to take ONE of the twins to the church in the real world. So after sending two Koopa Troopas to fetch him and find nothing, Koopa sended people to hunt her HIMSELF.
Description
Tough. With the look of a Professional Buiseness Man. Koopa is the lowest, greedious, evilist, dictator there ever was! With his golden, yet spikey hair, his black suit, AND his ability to strike the fear into MANY of those who stand against him. But when you see him in his TRUE form? It would take JAWS OF DEATH to get that image out of your head!!!! He wears BLOOD SHOT eyes, Firey red hair, a green dirty shell with 20 spikes! Each are very sharp! He looks like a demon dragon with ULTIMATE fire breath!!!!!! He has spikey white teeth. He wears three chains. Each have four spikes each and each wear 580 pounds!!!!
"Notes"
I only have "one" person who make this guy come to life. Dennis Hopper!!!! I'm serious! Once you see Dennis Hopper as Koopa, thats the ONLY actor you will picture of him! (I think.) So I decided to search for someone who has Dennis's kind of look but has a different style of Koopa.

Me too.

But, I don't know. I'm stuck with the first one or the third one. And the reason I chose the original BOXART covers was because I wanted the fans and audience to realize that although its not exact to its source material, they would still feel that it would be based on the game and not just the characters names slapped on it.

This is just me speaking from experience, but it's usually best to get all the writing for
the outlines/profiles/screenplay done before doing any concept art, for two reasons:
One, the concept art is fun to do, but it's distracting and can take you way off track of your writing.
Two, if you have all the writing done, you have more ideas you can work into your conceptual art.

Kamek
Size:3.4
Height:5.1
Weight:109 lbs.
Bio
Another mystery past, this one's the most blank so far. All we know is he was once a servant of the King until Koopa took over and Kamek was FORCED to work for Koopa.
Description
Short and stumpy. He wears a dark blue coat and little glasses. Also carrying a magic septor, Kamek is able to control people, make spells, create potions, and turn things into something else.
"Notes"
I think the guy who would be a good Kamek, Mark Macoy.

I'm not joking, he looks the part but I think he's more into effects and stuff.

Plot Summary
When Hildy is captured by Koopa, a dragon lizard, three unlikely heroes, Mario, Luigi and Toad, a drifter must save her. Even if it means dodging vicious Pirhanna Plants, squashing menacing Goombas, beating terrorizing Koopas, and going on perilous adventures, they'll do anything to save the princess from a terrible fate.

Well I would hope there was a plot, I mean, oh wait what am I saying? Movies today seem to fail at that part. They just want explosions, and Michael Gaye to make more explosions in their movies...the industry has gone far down hill. Honestly though, a re-make of this movie isn't even necessary anymore, if there was a remake, I hope it ditches everything from the 93 story other than the Bros coming from Brooklyn. Even that would probably be gone, ever since SMW2YI, the Bros were born in the Mushroom Kingdom, taking everything Dic had written, and throwing them in the shitter.
