Totally nostalgic.

Postby Elly » Wed Aug 17, 2011 4:50 pm

I first saw this movie when I was about eight or nine years old. I've been a Mario gamer since I was 4, so anything having to do with the Marioverse thrilled me. This movie was no exception.

A lot of people say that the movie was bad because the interpretations weren't true enough to the game. (There's only so far you can go when trying to carry a cartoon universe into a live-action one believably.) But I didn't care one bit. I had a crush on Luigi at the time, and it was awesome seeing him as a real person. I loved everything about the movie that resembled aspects of the games, and I think the movie incorporated them well. There's a lot of personality in the way they were carried out.

I didn't know it had so many fans. I don't feel so weird anymore now. *smiles*

Welcome to the board, Elly! It's wonderful to see you find your way here; there's no better time, in fact, since we've done a remarkable amount of work in revealing how the movie came about. Lots of early scripts, concept artwork and exclusive interviews! :D

You're exactly right: the movie has an unbelievable amount of personality in how it (re)imagined the games out at the time. You just have to appreciate their incredible vision, if anything else.

Anyways, it's good to meet you. There's definitely many fans for the film. We've had active members here since 2007 with new ones joining all the time, so you should have plenty to talk about with plenty of people! Feel free to post in any topic you like. :)

Good to have you on the boards. Be sure to tell all your friends about us, too!
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.
