A place for those who "Trust the Fungus"

I am the biggest fan of the "Super Mario Bros." movie there is. No, not just a fan, but an evangelist. Now, some of you know me, and my behavior before I went away was... less than polite. I apologize to anyone I hurt, I wasn't myself-- I won't go into many details, but I've been under constant medical supervision for several months. And I see that my moderator status has been revoked... However, if you are willing, I will reclaim my place as moderator and use it responsibly, for I am well, now. Enough of this teary crap, let's talk about the greatest movie ever made.

"Super Mario Bros." is a movie that I hold in the same regard that Catholics hold Mary, I pray to people like Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo and Dennis Hopper. I will stop at nothing to see this movie get the righteous appreciation it deserves and no one will stand in my way. I've been watching it non-stop every day since 1997, and I'll go to my deathbed watching this movie. I want to be buried in a Goomba jumpsuit with the Koopa emblem emblazed on each shoulder. And I may not have seen it in theaters the day it came out, but I've made up for all of that in watching it every day on VHS since August of 1997 and then DVD, and soon, hopefully... Blu-Ray.

So, there you have it. Serum has come home.

Let me be the first to welcome you back, Serum. It really hasn't been the same without you. I sincerely missed your presence and imagined the worst had happened, so it's very uplifting to see that you're doing much better.

You've also missed quite a bit of site and forum activity. Our nationwide screenings are nearly over while we've had an upsurge of new members that have kept the community lively. Take a moment to re-acquaint yourself and contribute more. Your discussions were always inspiring.

You still working on that bizarro story you mentioned a year or two ago? I think it'd be a real treat to read if it gets made.

I gave up on bizarro fiction, I wrote a book and sent it to the publisher but they didn't publish it on the grounds that it was "too strange," which is saying something coming from a bizarro publisher.

Let me just say that I love your enthusiasm. It's a great feeling seeing so many topics revisited. Hopefully it leads to revitalized discussion as well!

I will personally baptize fans of the movie in fungus, if I had the resources, I'd start a program for underprivileged kids who love movies and show this film to them everyday.

Ok, now you're starting to unnerve me with this obession. I'm getting the vibe you actually think this movie is like god, and that the forums are like a religion or something. Of course you could be joking but I somehow get the feeling you're not.

Eh, it's more of a Christmas and Easter kind of thing. But I'm quoting John Waters when I say I pray to people like Bob Hoskins. If you don't know who John Waters is, he's the guy who wrote "Hairspray."

Ok, I need to know. When did your revelation happen? Because you were NEVER this passionate about the film until a year ago!

It must have happened around the time I switched all my computers to Mac OS 9... I've become a retroactivist and I idealize the past and I feel the most important movie of the past is "Super Mario Bros."

What about BladeRunner? Without that movie, SMB wouldn'tve been the same movie it is today. It'd probably be based on GASP! The 1991 draft!!!

I didn't say "Blade Runner" wasn't important-- it is. It helped create the greatest movie of all time.

I only joined today, so I don't know what happened in the past, but it's nice to have a frequent poster on this site, so welcome back home Serum! Let's enjoy the movie together! Haha

This man is hilarious. I'd like to believe that there really is someone out there who watches Super Mario Bros every day. Oh, and you'd also better constantly drive one of those cop cars, wear Reeboks, and yell at people with a heavy Brooklyn accent everywhere you go about the importance of their tools and believing in themselves.

The scary thing is, I don't think he's joking.
