I emailed the site founder to tell him he was my hero and Steven suggested I come here to introduce myself. Guess I'll do that!

When I was a kid, my parents took me to see Jurassic Park because I was obsessed with Dinosaurs... Being a Nintendo nut (like all 6 year-olds in 93), they uh... They kinda dropped the ball on another dinosaur movie that came out that year, haha. Actually my mom had read the reviews and decided to just not tell me about the Mario movie because it didn't look like something she wanted to sit through. It was later that year when my friend brought me over and pulled out the VHS tape that I discovered what I missed.

Well, like the rest of you, the movie had an amazing impact on my life! I watched it a hundred times as a kid, but it never seemed to fully fade into my childhood. I ended up buying the DVD in college, and even now, at 25 years old, have a torrented copy on my computer at all times.

Last night I discovered this webpage from one of it's Youtube video IGN had embedded on their site. Now I see that I'm not alone in my admiration! Better yet, that someone has sought out those responsible for the film and has picked their brains for all the answers to the questions I've had for SO long. And that the answers are more amazing than I had even imagined!

Outside the few resources on IMDB, I knew nothing about the movie or the origins of the film. I just assumed they were lost to history. After seeing the few cast interviews online, I had been let down... Bob Hoskins and Dennis Hopper hated it?! Well, Robert Downey Jr has a great line in the movie Kiss Kiss Bang Bang where he reflects on a girl who is unaffected by her favorite childhood author claiming his books were all bullshit and that he'd only written them for the money. The line was "What did he know? He was only the writer." So true. Hoskins and Hopper regretted the film? Crazy! But what do they know? They were just the actors :)

Clearly, someone had poured their soul into the movie, though... The creative interpretations, the set design, the props, even the elevator music seemed to have been picked out in the absolute most thoughtful way (I freaking love that song. Check out the Sinatra version if you haven't.).

I'm still not even halfway through the site yet. I've got a couple more interviews to read, then I want to check out that lost script. A lot of the forum posts hint at amazing things just below the surface of the film that I would never have really connected to. There are a lot of very clever people in this forum that have spotted interesting things. It's very exciting.

It's a very strange thing when you turn a corner and something you loved so dearly from your past is right there, unlocked and splayed out, waiting to be dissected... And just when your soul has ripened for it. It's funny how something can happen so long ago, and affect young people so greatly, but go relatively unnoticed by the adults. Now that we're older, we look back and realize something. Those things actually were great. There was actually something there. Very cool.

Welcome aboard man. Just don't try any of your moon crushing antics here ok? It wasn't funny in Termina, and it definitley isn't funny here! :P

But seriously speaking, I hope you confronted your mom about that. I mean I'm fairly sure you did but it did rather mean to keep you away from a movie just because she didn't want to sit through it.

Haha, she would also skip pages in books when she was reading to me so that she didn't have to read to me very long. I was practically abused!

Definitely, though I've actually only played OoT and MM. I don't really play a lot of video games anymore, but I have a freak obsession with Majora's Mask... It's had a weird hold on me since I first played it at 13. Can't get it out of my head, but I've only played through it twice. The first time playing the game I broke my collar bone rollerblading before the snowhead dungeon. The second time playing it (11 years later) I broke my collar bone riding a motorcycle (was hit by a city bus!) right after the Snowhead dungeon.

I've got a Hylian crest on my front fender and a big Majora's Mask decal on my helmet. So yeah, the Skull Kid isn't the only one cursed by the mask!

I'm glad you made your way to the boards and have been posting! The film and the site has a lot to offer and it only gets better with some great members.

I'm a huge fan of the Zelda series as well...I'm getting the urge to try and tackle the Master Quest on OoT on the 3DS.
