Hi I'm new to the forum. I'm a hardcore gamer, so yes I love videogame movies too and I give them the respect they deserve - and Super Mario Bros. is one of my favourites. Even my mum loves this movie!

Great to have you! I see you've already posted in a couple threads... Feel free to post as much as you like in any thread, no matter how old it may be. Discussion is always welcomed. :)

May I ask how you found your way here?

Nice to meet you Redstar!

I found the site during a random search, after Steven Applebaum posted on a Facebook fanpage (I'm a Facebooker, yes) for the movie asking someone if they've visited the official site. I'm guessing the SMB archives is indeed the official site?

I particularly specialise in retro gaming but yes I have played one or two modern greats, so I am more than willing to share my wisdom.

Steven Applebaum would be me. :) And, yes, the SMB Archives are indeed the official site. (As best you can label such a place)

I'm glad to see my visit to the Facebook page paid off. You'll find that our forums are much more active than the Facebook page. We only have a few devoted members, but we post everyday. Always something to look for here, especially in regards to the site! As a staff member of the site I hope you take the time to check out all that we have to offer... our exclusive interviews are an especially great read. :P

Thanks Steven... I mean RedStar, then I guess you may recognise me as Natalie Farrell from the SMB movie Facebook group :)

If you're interested... should you ever check back at the FB group, you have my full permission to post this pic http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=ho ... 0053893882 up on the site. Isn't my mum clever to make such a super cake for my 9th birthday? :D

The use of chocolate as the towering bricks is very clever while I just love those cute little turtles she used for Koopa Troopas. :D

My mother has made me several Mario-themed cakes over the years. The best year was probably a spherical-Bob-omb cake with actual feet, eyes, and a black licorice fuse. She also made mushroom cupcakes!

Thanks! Do you have any photos of your old Mario cakes (including the mushroom cupcakes)? I'm certain they would come under the 'other merchandise' category :P

I was very proud of this cake, and yes you can give credit to my friends who gave us their old NES for giving mum the idea for it  . I think anyone making a lovely cake like this would also use chocolate as bricks (any height, be it the towering bricks or any of the smaller clusters), plus I think we also had some red Lego flowers but yellow works fine too; remember this was in our earliest few months with the NES and we only had three games for it so far, one of them being the original SMB... so obviously mum was referencing the original design for a Fireflower. And yes, those little turtles she used for Koopa Troopas are cute

In the same year, my younger brother also had a store-bought Mario riding Yoshi (a la Super Mario World) cake for his 7th birthday (July 17)

Yes, we have pictures of every cake we've made. They're physical, though, so I'd have to scan them before I could get them up.

Welcome to the board! Great to have you here, and as always, it's great to meet another fan of the most exquisite film ever produced in the history of mankind.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

It's great to see you're a fairly active member, judging by your post count, which I see is currently at eighty-seven. Keep it up!
