Hey all, I've been a defender of the Super Mario Bros. film since I saw it in a Cardiff cinema in 1993 when I was 6. I chose it over Jurassic Park; I didn't regret it then, and I don't regret it now.
After revisiting and thoroughly enjoying the film on DVD the other day, I wondered if there were any making of featurettes on YouTube. To my delight, there were several, and the uploads were all affiliated with this site. I thought I'd check the site out, but I thought it would only be a quick glance. I ended up spending a lot of time reading all the wonderful articles and artifacts archieved here. You guys have done a great job creating a site dedicated to a film which is all too often casually dismissed, and the internet is a better place for it. Kudos

Good to see another non-American fan. We've been under the impression that the film was better received outside of the U.S., so it's been somewhat easy to start building an international fan community.
You're very lucky to have seen the movie in theatres. Very few of us have been able to, which is a real shame considering how poor many of the releases have been. We're missing out on seeing the movie as it was originally intended.
Great to see that our videos have been appreciated by people outside our community. We've been finding a lot of footage lately (with more to come) so Phlibbit's Youtube channel is constantly being updated. Considering your interest in the fantasy script I thought you might be interested in the others as well. Feel free to stick around as we're planning some really big updates in March, including new interviews, scripts and production artwork. You're also welcome to post in any topic you like, no matter how old, as long as you have something to contribute.

Re: This place is the Bob-omb
I was staying at a hotel when I saw it. I remember from one of the windows of the hotel there was an animated billboard, and an advert for the movie would flash up every so often.
It's interesting you say the movie is believed to have been better received outside the US, as come to think of it I can't remember ever meeting anyone who said they particularly disliked the movie, although a lot of that may be an age thing (and my family's odd tastes!) I don't think it was a huge hit here, but I do vaguely remember the cinema seemed pretty full, though of course that doesn't mean much.
Thanks for the warm welcome

Hi Getthoseplumbers and welcome to the forums. Hope you have a good time now.
Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

Welcome to the board GetThosePlumbers. You made a SUPER good choice in choosing SMB over Jurassic Park - heck if such was the case with how I heard of the movie, I know I'd do the same
And your username is a SUPER good choice too - as it is a King Koopa quote, did you choose it out of respect for Dennis Hopper?

Full cinema, huh? Do you recall if most of the audience stayed throughout the entirety? That's the real assessment.

Can't remember off hand, but I'm pretty sure I've seen more people leave
A little bit; I'm certainly a Hopper fan, but mostly it's because the line at the end of the Mario Bros 3 cartoon titles is one of the things that comes to mind first for me when I think of the Mario franchise. Not sure why, maybe because that was the first "real" Mario thing I ever experienced.
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone
