Howdy, SMB Movie fans. I am Sequelcast, a podcast focusing on movie franchises one movie at a time, and I was introduced to this site by redstar on my Facebook page after we did an episode focusing on movies that promised a sequel that never came to fruition (one of them we talked about was Super Mario Bros. The Movie).
I remember seeing Super Mario Bros. The Movie in theaters when I was in 5th grade and thinking it was really weird at the time, but it has grown on me. The acting, production design, and surprisingly dark tone make it stand out in a pantheon of poor video game movies (although I did enjoy the Silent Hill movie quite a bit).
I started up a thread in the General section where you guys can talk about the Sequelcast if you want, but I am looking forward to reading more of the great interviews and content on this site regarding this truly original video game movie.

Welcome to the boards! I appreciate you not only taking the time to re-post the Sequelcast podcast here, but also getting so involved in discussion. Just as in the podcast themselves, you seem to have an an incredible amount passion for films and the discussion thereof.
The movie really does have a hit-or-miss quality for the masses. As you can tell, it was surely a hit for us. The acting, production design, tone and SFX are truly enjoyable stand-outs that exemplify what they were going for and define what makes it an enjoyable film. As intended by the directors and writers, it's certainly a "Blade Runner meets Beetlejuice" type of film with a "Ghostbusters" comedic sensibility. How can you miss with that?
We certainly have a lot of material on the site, including our exclusive cast & crew interviews and early scripts. Though we're taking a bit of a hiatus right now while my partner is moving for work, we plan to update with much more in every area very soon. Feel free to post in any topic, no matter how old, if you feel you have something to add.

Re: It's me, Sequelcast!
Welcome to the board, Sequelcast! Sadly, I've been waiting for almost twenty years for a sequel to this movie and I highly doubt it's going to happen. But if it did, I have plenty of great ideas of who would be in it and how to make it. Either way, welcome to the board and be sure to post a lot and keep our growing community active.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.
