Does anyone else find it kinda strange that everyone is in their 90's/80's designs except for Robotnik? I guess things didnt go to well with Disney and Sega during the deals lol.
Re: Wreck-It Ralph
That Bowser looks pretty much like his current design to me.

Yeah Bowser is definetly in his current design. It looks like they ripped the 3D model right of Galaxy and rendered it smoother.
Re: Wreck-It Ralph
There is a screenshot I saw on 4chan. (/v/ideogames is really happy for the movie.) That apprently showed Dr.Willy in the villian scene. He was later replaced by the ninja. I pressume he was beridden of due to the fact that capcom has and killed megaman beyond the archie comics recently.
Also deku link and many other nintendo and capcom/namco charecters at in this film. If you screencap the train station scene and really look there are a ton of cameos.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph
Fangirl moment here, but I had a dream about Wreck-It Ralph where Mario shows up towards the end to give sage advice on how everyone is important and has their place in a story no matter how unwanted they seem to be.
I was sad to wake up to find it was not true, but if Mario makes even a Stan Lee-esque appearance in the movie, I will be a happy camper.

Nothing's impossible, Mario. Improbable, unlikely, but never impossible.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph
It would be very cool for Mario to have some role in the film, even as a brief cameo, but I imagine it took quite a bit of negotations on Disney's part to even secure Bowser from Nintendo. Besides, if he were in the film I'm sure that it would have been leaked by now.
However, as I've noted previously up-thread, Fix-It Felix appears to be an expy of Mario just as Ralph is of Donkey Kong. It would be a surreal feeling seeing them within the same universe.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph
Looks like Mario won't be making an appearance in the film. Here's a tweet from Quint from Ain't it Cool News who attended the film's panel at SDCC:
Mario a no go for Wreck-It Ralph, but tons of Sonic, Pac-Man, Streetfighter, Qbert characters. Bowser made the cut, though
Re: Wreck-It Ralph
That Sucks. Really in the trailer there are allot of other charecters from other games in the Central station. If anyone can screen cap it again. If you look trust me there are some nintendo charecters in there. Mainly capcom though.
Oh and the trailer just appeared on disney channel.

Slashfilm has a reactions video from the preview given at Comic-Con:
They have also announced that Alan Tudyk (Firefly, Tucker and Dale vs Evil) will be voicing King Candy of the Sugar Rush game while Skrillex with be providing music. Fairly interesting prospects.
I love Alan as an actor and perhaps Skrillex can provide for the film what Daft Punk did for Tron: Legacy. What does everyone else think?

According to io9, Disney had been in negotiations to license the many different characters for years with the longest hold-out being Mario from Nintendo, who obviously didn't work out.

One of the many reason's nintendo may fail in the future. They care too much about their old ways and need to learn to adapt a bit more. I don't mind mario only being on a nintendo console, but when it comes to media like cartoons and films nintendo could earn allot of cash.
Look at MARVEL. allot of their revanue is due to FILMS. Allot of kids would not know woh spider man was if it was not for the cartoons or movies.
So nintendo needs to pull their head out of their but and take chances with the film/ animation industry.
Let me ask a 7 year old who Samus or kirby is and not many of them may know.

I'm so excited for this movie that words can't even describe it. Therefore, I won't try to make them. Instead I'll just settle for barfing rainbows all over my keyboard. 8D
I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ACTUALLY PUT FREAKING ROBOTNIK AND BOWSER IN A MOVIE ASDFGHJKL
(I agree, they really do need to stick their toes out a little bit more. Just imagine having a Golden Sun movie. -goes into sadmode because it will probably never, ever happen, even if they do eventually get around to making the next game-)

Bear with me, I derp often and derp hard.

I've heard of this movie. Is it actually done in 8-bit animation like that "Code Monkeys" show? Or is it a CGI fest? Because the poster depicts 8-bit art, which I think holds much more artistic merit.
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

The trailer was posted on the first page. It's Disney CG done in Pixar style.

Yeah, I think I'm gonna skip it, then. Or wait until I can watch it for free on NetFlix. Besides, every time I go to see a children's movie, an island of empty seats forms around me.

Im still looking foward to this movie, it does NOT need Mario in it anyway as much as im a Mario fanatic, thats how i feel about it. At least we got Bowser representing the SMB franchise in the movie.
Like someone in this thread said before, this may pave the way for a future MArio film, or any of the other franchises shown in the movie.

This isn't exactly a "childrens' movie." It's largely being marketed as a retro/nostalgia trip, which means most audiences will be in their mid-'20s to early-'30s.

Still, it's the kind of movie where there's going to be a lot of little kids there, and like I said, whenever I go into one of those by myself, an island of empty seats forms around me. It'll be like when I went to go see "The Lion King 3-D" all over again.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph
/Slashfilm posted a 50 Things You Didn’t Know About Disney Animation’s ‘Wreck-It Ralph’ article with several new images. Here's some of the points that I found especially interesting:

Much more than just that, so check out the article and discuss your thoughts here!
1. Wreck-It Ralph has 188 unique, individual characters, more than any Disney movie in history. Normal Disney films have between 40 and 60.
4. For the first two months of story development on the film, Fix It Felix Jr. (McBrayer) was the main character. Moore soon realized his nemesis, Ralph, had a better arc.
7. Very early on, they considered making Ralph look 8-bit the entire time, but it was deemed he wouldn’t be lovable enough. The design of Ralph began as an animal dressed as a bum, evolved into a big white gorilla (above) and only became human about six iterations in.

8. Each world in the film is associated with a particular shape and set of physics:
* Fix It Felix Jr. is built with square shapes and the physics are jerky.
* Game Central Station has long, majestic tower shapes.
* Hero’s Duty is built almost exclusively with triangle shapes and the physics are super realistic.
* Sugar Rush is composed of circles and its physics are described as cartoonish.
10. Before Wreck-It Ralph, Disney had unsuccessfully been developing two video game films: High Score and Joe Jump. Moore ignored both of them.
13. Fix It Felix Jr. is primarily influenced by Donkey Kong and Super Mario Bros., but there’s some Rampage in there too.
17. Though Ralph is from the same world, he only has 8-bit movements when he’s very angry. The thought was after 30 years of apathy, he’s just sort of given up on his lot in life.
23. In the world of the game, the bad guys become what they eat so if you they take your gun, they become a gun.
25. During development, Microsoft revealed their Kinect controller, and producers worried it would change video games forever. Disney briefly considered changing Hero’s Duty into a movement-based game.
27. About half the film takes place in Sugar Rush, simply because Vanellope can’t leave. She’s a glitch in the game and is unable to travel around like Ralph.
41. The video game cameos are a big part of Wreck-It Ralph, but only make up about 20% of the video game characters in the movie. They were initially voted on by committee as Disney employees would write their favorites on a large bulletin board. Once a company licensed their character to Disney, they had input on the look, sound, and size of their character.
Much more than just that, so check out the article and discuss your thoughts here!

I don't like the fact that it's mostly around the sugar coated world. I think Game Central is a much more interesting location to be set around.

Re: Wreck-It Ralph
IGN had an interesting article on the film that includes a few quotes that clarify it's development.
"We did have kind of a check-in process, where we would show them the footage and say, 'What do you think? Is it good?' At one point, [Nintendo] said, 'Bowser's much bigger than that. He's way bigger than Zangief.'
We were like, 'Okay, we'll make him bigger. How's that?' They'd say, 'Yes, that’s good -- but he wouldn’t drink his coffee like that. He wouldn’t make that mouth.' [Laughs] Of course, then people from Sega said, 'Well, Doctor Robotnik is bigger.' [Laughs] They wanted their characters bigger and bigger. We were going to end up with these giants in a room, with Ralph as this little guy...
But I think that stuff really helped. I looked back on our original animation before the Nintendo notes, and it was like, 'You know, he does look more like Bowser now.'"

Re: Wreck-It Ralph
I made a height comparison chart for Eggman and Bowser once, going by the figures given for Mario and Eggman's respective heights, and then figuring Bowser based on his SMB/NSMB appearances:

Incidentally, the Mario & Sonic games are way off, but Archie seems to get Mega Man and Sonic together right. Then there's Smash Bros., where you pretty much throw scale out the window, save for maybe within a specific franchise (Mario characters to Mario characters, etc.).

Re: Wreck-It Ralph
I actually saw the movie the day I said I was, but am only just now getting around to posting my own thoughts. I'm glad that so many other people went to see it and enjoyed it! I had a good time, but unfortunately probably didn't like it as much as everyone else.
We rushed to make the the 4:10 showing, only for it to be sold-out. We decide to come back at 7:00, but as we didn't pre-order tickets (my girlfriend suggested it, but I dismissed it as unnecessary) we were faced with another sell-out. We ended up paying for the 3D showing, which was already well into the Paper Man short.
Bearing that in mind, it took me a little time to ease into the movie and enjoy it for what it was. I really came out of it expecting more, but satisfied. It felt like a very focused story we were looking at, much like how the original Toy Story feels in comparison to its sequels. It just seemed as if so much more was going on in the arcade world that we just were not seeing. I imagine the potential sequel will be much more large-scale.
I will say that I was disappointed that the entire opening to the movie turned out to be the trailer we had already seen. I really liked that trailer, but it felt lazy in that they were showing the best part. Most of the film's funniest jokes were also in the available trailers.
John C. Reilly did his role well. It took some time for me to adjust to Sarah Silverman, as I really do not like her, but in the end I warmed-up to the character.
I really liked the ending, although I felt that the reveal of Turbo as King Candy was a little left-field. There just wasn't enough foreshadowing for you to really expect it, or perhaps I'm just dense. I had also hoped that the film would end with the announcement of "Wreck-It Ralph Country" or some such to hint at a sequel film, but that didn't happen. Who knows what direction the actual sequel will take.

That is the first semi negative review I have seen of the movie. I still haven't seen it I am hoping I do soon, but I'd honestly rather see Skyfall. I' m thinking of telling my gf we're gonna see Wreck It and then just be like two for Skyfall. But that could start a fight hahahaha.
I think it's good to see a semi negative review because the movie can't be THAT good, cause they never are.

It's probably just you as I had already guessed who King Candy was before the Reveal came. (Granted, it was just a couple of minutes before it happened but still). And I thought it was actually pretty clever BECAUSE they didn't foreshadow it too much.
The turbo scene comes off as exposition to explain why Ralph's game jumping is not allowed, and before that many saw the phrase "Going turbo" as a SF2 reference considering that it first came out of M Bison's mouth. No one would've suspected that it would've served any more purpose outside of that and when it did well you got a good plot twist.

I didn't hate the movie, nor do I feel that it's bad; it just didn't meet my expectations. It was much smaller scale than the trailers and promotional releases might lead you to believe. The entire film only sees the interior of three different games while, outside of the "Bad Anon" support group, there are very few secondary characters. It's mostly primary characters.
It's a very small and focused story.

I didn't think you hated it, since I said semi-negative. I knew what you meant, and it's nice that someone can say it's not the best movie ever. But a lot of trailers do that where they show all the good stuff and have nothing for the movie itself.
