You know how whenever someone says that a movie based on Zelda almost happened, it was either a fan film or complete bullshit?
Well that was the case here, apparently there was a rumor going around hat Imagi Studios (the guys behind TMNT and Astro Boy) pitched a CGI Zelda Movie that got shot down by Nintendo. As I said however, many people just assumed that this was a complete pile of gossip.
Well what do you know...
I guess sometimes, rumors ARE true. This to my knowledge was made around 2007 and to be honest, it looks kind of cool! I would've begged my parents to see it if it came out in 2007. The only real criticism I have with it is that Ganondorf looks a little...eh. He doesn't really look like Ganondorf. Hell if you were to change his coloring you wouldn't even KNOW it was supposed to be Ganondorf.
I mean sure Sonic SatAM's version of Dr. Robotnik was the same but at least he had a memorable redesign. This version of Ganondorf looks average. Also, I think there should have been more Zelda-esque enemies like Moblins or Gibdos or hell even Gorons, just something!
Other than that, I have nothing to complain about this. Hell, maybe the designs would have changed had Nintendo would've said yes. All I know is, a Zelda movie was actually being pitched unlike what we previously thought.
Any one else want to say anything about this?

Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

Re: Imagi's CGI Zelda movie pitch
I read about this yesterday and, to be honest, it didn't really speak to me. It's simply astonishing a studio can adapt a property when knowing just how particular Nintendo is about protecting said properties.
The style just is not within the same visual tone of the games, nor do the characters really match their classic representations. The eyes are all wrong and, yes, Ganondorf is a completely different build from what he should be.
Sorry, Imagi, but you didn't respect the property and for that you failed to get the rights.

I really liked this, like a lot. It's a shame Nintendo rejected it, but what can we do?

We've had a range of Links as wide and varied as this, but somehow that particular style is out of line and doesn't respect the property?
...I don't see it. I imagine it was meant as a stand-alone tale, rather than an adaptation of a previous one, and in keeping with Nintendo, it seems largely in line in that regard.

I agree, Zelda doesn't have a one design style. It's different in each game. If not it's because it used the same engine like OoT and Majora's Mask. This could have been a good movie, if it were made. But honestly, I wouldn't want the same studio who made that horrible TMNT movie, make any Nintendo franchise into a movie. Why can't there just be traditional 2D animation anymore? Why does everything have to be CGI? Just like video games, good grahics don't make a good movie.

I liked the TMNT movie. =\

Because traditional seems to be viewed as "cheap" by a mass general audience, and don't tend to do as well in theaters. I think part of that is perception forming reality, and reality forming perception, as Disney's more recent (relatively speaking) traditionally animated films had a tendency not to do so hot compared to things like Pixar's works.
Of course, part of that is because people just weren't buying into them beyond visuals, either; that is, people just thought they weren't very good regardless. With that seemingly becoming the norm, it seemed to lead to better fare-- such as The Princess and the Frog-- going ignored in favor of whatever new 3D production was coming out.

What is stupid though, IMO, Pixar movies are crap. Toy Story is the only good thing to come from Pixar. There is always hype built up for their movies, and they are never really that great. I don't know where their positive reviews come from either, or how they have been around this long. It's not ground breaking material, it's just CGI.
I dunno it's just my thoughts on the matter I'm a traditionalist with animation, you ca make 3D badass backgrounds with 2D, I mean check out Battle of the Gods for example. They really pushed the backgrounds in that to be realastic but kept the traditional 2D, adn it is beautiful. So raelly there is no excuse for everything to be fully CGI.
