Wii U sales

So as we all know in the gaming industry, the Wii U sales are doing very terrible. The fact that Nintendo's goal is 9 million systems by mid next year is way out of the question. Do you guys think the system will tank and follow the way of the Dreamcast, and Nintendo will stick to handheld systems? For exampe, Smash Bros Brawl is coming out for both systems, this could be a sign.
I know this was planned beforehand, but maybe they knew their new system might not sell that well and did this decision. Also, the name of the system, Wii U. To regular consumers who don't know any better will just assume it is just a regular Wii. Which is a shame, because Nintendo should have taken the name very seriously. What do you guys think?

Well, first and foremost, I think we need a Blu-Ray special edition of the Super Mario Bros. movie.
Secondly, I think Nintendo needs to come up with a better system, without the movement based controllers and go back to basics without all the crazy screens on the gamepads and motion capture joysticks-- it's way over the top and it's why I haven't played a Nintendo console since GameCube. They really should come up with a better name than "Wii" as well, for several reasons, the most damning one that springs to mind first is the tragedy at the radio station when they held the "Hold Your Wii" contest which ended in a young mother dying. But the other thing they need to work on is their graphics-- I know I don't usually judge games by their graphics, it's gameplay and story that make a good game great, but presentation is important as well as my brother always tells me and Nintendo is an entire generation behind with the Wii-U now that the PS4 and XB1 have been released.
So, that's my two cents, take it or leave it, I guess.

I've been hearing a lot of doom and gloom from gaming sites like Kotaku about the Wii U and I think it's all just anti-Nintendo mentality.
Sure, the Wii U isn't selling as well as its predecessor, but that's mostly due to poor marketing. They've really picked that up just in time for the holiday season. I believe we'll see a real uptick in sales for Christmas.
It should also be pointed out that the 3DS was doing extremely poorly for its first year, but following the price drop and the release of several major titles it has swung back into the game. Just give Nintendo some time; they'll make it happen.

Yes this has been said, but the fact that the 3DS was out for six months then it went somewhere. Wii U has been out for over a year, and even Mario isn't saving it. I am sure something will crack eventually. I just refuse to live in a world where Nintendo doesn't do home consoles, so just in case, I will be doing my 3rd party on gaming on PC. So I will not need to sink to get a PS4, or XboxOne.

I have a WiiU and I've been enjoying it so far. I'm not surprised that it hasn't been selling too well--for whatever reason, Nintendo just doesn't have a clue how to market this thing. Still, they were finally able to make the 3DS rise from the ashes, so I'm pretty confident they'll be able to do the same here.

What games have you been playing? So far seems like Mario 3D World IMO is the best one out for the system.
What I'm so confused though about the whole situation is it seemed like at E3, even though Nintendo wasn't there, they blew so many minds. Now to think one of the huge major titles, (I'm not counting Wind Waker HD, which was amazing and tied me over until the day before Mario came out) To me like I have said before the name is a really big downer on the system. The U after the Wii really doesn't make sense. I don't care how Japanese it's supposed to be, it doesn't make sense here. Maybe Nintendo Touch, or maybe Nintendo TVDS. I know these aren't the best names, but I would prefer them over WiiU.
The best situation I can think of, though they would lose so much, pull a Sega move, come out with new a better system a few years from now. But for those who did buy a WiiU, can get a huge amount of eshop cash, or maybe 20 free games like the Ambassador program for those who bought a 3DS before they lowered the price the first time. To this all the GBA games are not in the eshop and have only been available to the lucky ones who did pay more.

Well as the big Nintendo fan I am, I have switched back over to 360. Though some good games are coming out for the Wii U, I think my Nintendo days are over for a while. I'm burned out on the whole thing. Mario 3D World wasn't that exciting as it just felt like a normal Mario game, there is still nothing really coming out and, the indie eshop titles are all rehashed 8-bit games. Yeah the GBA games are coming out, but they just take their time.
I don't even think I will be bothering with Smash Bros, or Mario Kart 8 as well. I mean no offense to Iwata, but if you look at him in the latest Nintendo Direct, he looks like a mess and stressed out like he knows the stuff they're trying to sell won't. I'm not sure if it's because I'm getting older but I'm just done with the whole thing. I opened my 3DS the other day and stared at the screen for about 20 minutes wondering what to do on it. I think next year I'm gonna shell out the 400 for a PS4, or if Microsoft fixes its 720p issue I will get a One.
Does anyone else feel the same way? I really didn't want to start a new topic, and thought I would just throw my final thoughts on the whole situation in this thread.
