Since ultimateemail5000 already brought this up, I figured I'd make a thread about it.

I looooove me some Metroid. Dunno why they've let you down, but I love 'em. I had problems with Prime 2/3, but they're still pretty dang good.

Usually Metroid lets me down every time, but this one, I had faith in it and faith was on my side and I like this game. Never have I thought a 3d game would have such great controls on a D pad. I do have to say though they say a lot of corny stuff in the cut scenes...

I have never played a single Metroid game. Ever. I was tempted to get into Prime but I rarely, if ever, buy anything. However, Other M looks simply amazing. I've always had a deep respect for the Metroid series and the simplistic, Alien(film)-like themes that ran through it. It's perfect movie material and even better game material.

I promise I will be getting this game, and with a little coaxing I think I'll try some of the original games as well. I love all Nintendo games and Metroid is a Nintendo series I've sorely gone without.

Well, let me coax you a little.

Metroid: Zero Mission for GBA is a remake/re-telling of the original NES Metroid--it's amazing. Metroid Fusion is also good too.

I've been really wanting to play Metroid 2 for GB but haven't got around to it yet...same goes for Super Metroid, although I'm 3/4 of the way through it.

The Prime series is really, really good. One of the best game series out there that tells the story through atmosphere.

And in all honesty, Other M is probably a terrific place to start. It picks up after the evens of Super Metroid, but I think the game catches you up to speed. Since it's kind of a mesh between the traditional 2D gameplay and the 3D stuff that the Prime series did, you're probably gonna get a taste of everything the series has to offer.

Oh, and watch Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, you fool :D

I know this thread hasn't been posted in for almost a year, but I've recently finally given Prime 1 and 2 a chance and I'm really getting into them. I love the Magmoor music  The only reason I didn't take too much notice in the past was because, I thought you had to scan everything to unlock the hard modes - and I dunno if I could find everything to scan! But I looked it up again, it turns out you just have to beat the normal modes... so here I am!

I don't have a Wii so no I can't play Prime 3, but mom has a Wii and a few months ago she borrowed my brother's copy of Metroid: Other M after my brother suggested she try it - and yes she enjoyed it, so I bought her her own copy after I got into Prime 1 and 2. She also has the published guide for it so don't anyone hesitate to drop me a line if you get stuck. Mom also has her own GameCube, and I've gently coaxed her into giving Prime 1 and 2 a chance (as soon as she finishes playing Twilight Princess) - if she doesn't like them she can still keep them for whenever my brother and/or I visit, but if she does then I'll work toward talking her into playing Prime 3.

But of course nothing beats the original Metroid, which yes I also have. I had seen the old Super Metroid commercial and yes I saw some magazine reviews of Metroid 2, but it wasn't until February 1996 when the then-11-year-old I took any notice of the Metroid series. My gran was babysitting me while my parents and brother were on vacation (I didn't want to go), and of course what's a gran visit without spoils?

On the Saturday while my family was away, gran happily agreed to buy me a game. My two choices were both SNES games, one was Wario's Woods and the other Super Metroid - which, in the end, won out. But it was only when I noticed the antagonist is Mother Brain when I began to remember the old Captain N cartoon, and thus in turn I gained a further interest in the Metroid games.

As luck would have it, a few months later I spotted and snapped up the original Metroid at a car boot sale! My general but still then-newly-gained interest in the Metroid series aside, surely you'd agree it's nice to try something new?

Again, as with Zelda, I have never played any of the Metroid games in my life. I don't even know what they're about.

I remember the original metroid from over at my friend's house. They were the first people I knew to get an NES and never wanted for any of the games. I actually inherited a bunch of nintendo powers from them. Actually they never lacked any game systems come to think of it. I got my first taste of metroid with Metroid 2 and the super metroid. I'm going to get all the other games as i go as i have a DS waiting for me thanks to a friend and a wii as soon as i get cash.
