ROB: Welcome to the new thread for Star Fox. Where topics for things like Star Fox, Star Fox 64, Adventures, Assault and Command will take place.
Ok ROB that's enough. Anyway this is the thread for the Star Fox games, one of Nintendo's only games where they use full voice acting, not just one liners like in Mario and Kirby, but full dialouge with actors. Its also known for its bizarre concept of using animals as badass fighter pilots, saving the world from a giant ape. But, it still had good characters, great landscapes and areas, plus some amazing weapons, like arwings, landmasters, and in Assault, guns!
Yeah, you heard right, guns! The only thing that sucked though was the voice acting for the most part. In fact, the only good voices of Assault was Peppy because this time, he actually sounded old and retired unlike Adventures, Slipy, becase he actually sounded like a boy, and Falco, because he sounded perfectly like an ass hole.
Star Fox 64 had better voice actors, like Peppy and Falco, and Andross talked a bit slow and sounded demonic again, unlike adventures. Plus Wolf sounded good and Fox too, unlike in Assault.
My favorite games are 64 and Assault. What do oyu guys think?

I've only ever played the original Star Fox on the SNES, but was never able to get past a few levels. It's a fun game, regardless. I'm curious about the developed mythology that they put together for the overall franchise.

I've only played 64 and Adventures, though I really want to play Assault. 64 is fantastic, Area 6 is probably one of my favorite levels in the history of video games. Adventures isn't very good when looked at as a Star Fox game, but if you understand the circumstances under which it was made, and look at it for what is instead of what it isn't, it's pretty fun. Kinda like the SMB Movie in that regard now I think about it...
I love when you do that hocus pocus to me.
Re: Star Fox: The Thread
One thing about the Star Fox games that always gets me. Is that the characters are always getting older, and older, and OLDERRRRRR (Dies) Just look at General Pepper in Star Fox Assualt, he was so old looking I'm surprised that he still had a PULSE...
And heres another funny thing. Star Fox Adventures was the very first game My sister and I got when we got our Nintendo GameCube. For about two months that was the only game we had unless we rented one from the video store, and to be honest I dont remember what the 2nd, 3rd, game we got were. I only remember that our GameCube Adventures started with Star Fox Adventures.

I own played, and own, SNES, 64 & Adventures. All are good games, but I like 64 the best by far. It had the best gameplay. SNES had great music, but, it was a little advanced for an SNES game so the gameplay was kinda lagged and slow. Adventures was good, but, I HATE how they put in Star Fox characters at the last minute. I was waiting for that game as Dinosaur Planet on the N64, it looked FANTASTIC, but, they brought it to Gamecube, and changed the whole game with Star Fox at the last minute. Could've been an amazing game, but, it never saw the light of the day.

Yes I enjoy the Star Fox games, I was not really very good at Star Fox 64 (AKA Lylat Wars) but I have completed the original Star Fox. I can actually play the Space Armada theme on the piano!
I was... so-so at StarFox Assault, my only big disappointment being you can't play as Krystal in the story mode. May I remind you, I have a general overall preference to play as female characters LOL
But my main reason for replying to this thread is, I recently finally gave StarFox Adventures a chance. In the past I could never get past the first area, as I didn't know what the hell to do - but I gave it a chance and listened to the tutorials, and now I'm already on Thorntail Hollow. "You pay this much..." "...Okay I'll sell it to you!"

Re: Star Fox: The Thread
Just last weekend I completed my second full playthrough of Star Fox Adventures. I hadn't played it really since its release way back in 2002. I always remembered though that AFTER I beat the game, I discovered it had a widescreen display mode. I vowed that some day, I'd make it up to myself and play through it again.
It just took me ten years to do so. Not a bad thing though, it was like playing it again for the first time. And in progressive scan, too! The game holds up pretty well, IMO. It does feel like there could have been more substance in many of the gameplay areas (both on the planet locations and the traditional SF sequences), but I give Rare major props for cramming in so much content.
And in case anyone's wondering, my first playthrough back in '02 took me about 25 hours. My recent one was about 14.

Re: Star Fox: The Thread
Star Fox Command was a huge disappointment to me, due to the forced touchscreen controls. If it were regular like the original game and 64, I could probably play it... I wonder if we'll ever get a remake which at least allows for normal controls.
As it is, it seemed to bookend the series well enough. I'd love to see a reboot which starts with a remake of the original game (yes, I know 64 is considered a remake... I mean one more accurate to the original: Music, stages, etc.), follow it with an updated version of the unreleased and awesome Star Fox 2, and go from there.
