Ugh, those IDIOTS. Why did they have to pair Super Mario Bros. with one of the most highly praised game film adaptations IN THE FIRST ROUND!?

Anyways, yeah--everyone please vote.

There's no contest, "Silent Hill" has already won. Unless some sort of miracle happens, which I doubt. Now had they paired the movie with something like Paul WS Anderson's "Mortal Kombat," then we might have a chance...

They seem to have fixed each match to have a "good" film and a "bad" film, essentially ensuring that the "bad" film is knocked out early. You would think they would pair off films in the same genre or time period, but clearly there's a bias at play.

Actually, with nearly five more days to vote I think there's still a good chance for Super Mario Bros. to win. It's currently the "most active battle" (with most votes), so it's clearly getting attention. We just need to get the word out there in our favor.

I think there's enough time to change the vote somewhat--even if it doesn't win. I'm updating the front page with this later today.

Another equal match to put "Super Mario Bros." up against would be that "Double Dragon" movie that came out the next year, but putting it next to Silent Hill-- a film by a critically acclaimed director and generally well received having been at number one at the box office for a record-breaking three weeks is a little contrived.

^Exactly my point. Hopefully, if even a fraction of the 1000 or so unique visitors we get a day votes, it could make a significant dent.

And the more I look at this list, the more I realize just how poorly it's laid out. Based on sheer general popularity/critical acclaim alone, I don't see why almost all of the higher regarded films are on the right side--Silent Hill, Resident Evil 1, Mortal Kombat, Final Fantasy Advent Children, whereas the ones on the right are either held in higher disregard, or were direct to DVD or animated features. Makes no sense at all.

Even "Resident Evil" is a more fair competition to "Super Mario Bros." because I know people who HATE
"Resident Evil," and the three plus subsequent sequels it didn't deserve.

Apparently, you don't need to activate your account via your E-mail. You can register a random username at a nonexistent E-mail address and automatically have a new account. Technically, we can vote as many times as we want this way.

We've already lost. I just voted, it's 65% Silent Hill and 35% Super Mario Bros.
We need a campaign manager-- like whoever it was that got both the Bushes into office, that kind of campaign manager. Someone who can really make us look good.

If I had known about this contest earlier, I would have not participated since it involved G4, a cable and satellite TV programming service I have disliked ever since the merger with TechTV, which helped prepare me (during the ZDTV years) for my family's first computer with Internet access in 1999 and broadcast programs I watched constantly.

Not to be a pessimist, but the odds of winning this were slim, anyway. The best we can really take from it is how many votes Mario got versus everything not Silent Hill, which should be pretty good, if it was the "most voted on" option.
