Score by Alan Silvestri. Help get an official release!

Postby PowerGlove79 » Tue Jul 10, 2012 1:20 am

Hey Guys, I have been thinking that it would be amazing to get an official release of the score by Alan Silvestri, so I would really reccomend everyone email Intrada and request it, because I would love to hear his thoughts on the creative process in writing and conducting the score because I personally think it's one of his best and most underappreciated.

Intrada frequently releases score for cult films that otherwise wouldn't get a decent score release like "The Monster Squad" and "Masters Of The Universe". Here is the email address you can contact them at. Who knows, maybe Silvestri has unused cues we haven't heard before that they could put on it!

EDIT: Whoops, forgot the email address lol, here it is!

While Intrada would be the ideal company to re-release Silvestri's score )as they have worked with him in the past), they don't have the rights to do so. I emailed them last November about the possibility of an expanded release of the score and they responded that it would be very difficult because all of that music is controlled by Walt Disney Pictures.

So, we have the same problem here as with getting a Blu-Ray release: it's all in Disney's hands.

But by all means, folks, e-mail Intrada to see if anything has changed in the meantime.

The soundtrack would definitely make a great companion for a re-release set, so we'll have to look into where the rights lie for it. We'll be sure to let everyone know what can be done to get it out on some official medium.

Well, Alan Silvestri scored a lot of famous films, including the "Back to the Future" trilogy, which has one of the most recognizable themes of all time-- why shouldn't "Super Mario Bros." get a score release?
What would you do without your big brother?
I'd like to give it a shot and find out.

yes, why not? but it has to be a COMPLETE score.

There was a CD release of the SMB Orchestral soundtrack, but its Bootleg from the short ques from the movie (not always full length) and is on a double soundtrack disc with another Alan Silvestri score, No Mercy. I've checked and the Youtube/torrented music scores are taken from the bootleg CD which currently sells at about $150 odd dollars. The tracks have analog hiss and could do with remastering.

^I would absolutely love a full release of the score. Having said that, I do own the bootleg and it's not bad IMO. We do get that extended length "Suite from Super Mario Bros." which is just beautiful. And of course--it's loads better than the subpar sound on the DVD.

I have I think the bootleg downloaded. Had to look good and hard for it but I enjoy it. I'd definitely buy a 'complete' score if released.
