Any other movies/shows that remind you of the Mario movie?

Mystery Men's setpieces remind me of Dinohatten, and Ming the Merciless in the 2007 Flash Gordon Sci-fi channel series reminds me of Dennis Hopper's Koopa.

Virtuosity, which just came on TV a couple of days ago. In fact, I suspect a few of SMB's sets were probably reused for it.

I can think of two off the top of my head outside of the usual comparisons to Blade Runner and similar films:

Adventures in Dinosaur City, in a group of kids are zapped into a vaguely cyber-punk dinosaur world within a digital universe. Almost a cross between TRON and Super Mario Bros. The Movie

Anonymous Rex: A low-budget SyFy channel original film adapted from the novel of the same name. The central conceit is that dinosaurs did not go extinct; rather, they adapted into smaller sizes until eventually they could disguise themselves as humans via either skin suits (the novel) or holograms (the film).

The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinlke - the cartoony atmosphere and quality reminded me of the level of comedy in SMB

The Flintstones - Well, both did have dinosaurs and it is a city that has them...despite being not evolved and humanized...

Congo - Just the level of camp and adventure...no its not the monkies...

Mars Attacks - Don't know why...but possibly the cartoony atmosphere and the scope of insantiy in the sci fi elements as well as pure fun

Or Sonic SatAM?

Demolition Man, Judge Dredd, and for some reason The Fifth Element all remind me of the Super Mario Bros. movie.

That's because Blade Runner is too obvious a comparison. Besides, moviebuffmel has shown that anything can remind you of the movie in some way.

Johnny Memonic or any movie Bob Hoskins appeared in after SMB, i swear every time ol Bob is in a movie i immediately think "Mario!"
