Koopa's hair
Koopa's hair
There's something about Koopa's Hair that looks very familiar to the character in the game and or cartoon. Can someone fill me in? And just curious but why did they go with Dinohatten instead of world more like what was used in Super Mario World?

Well if you read the first draft (which actually isn't the first draft) they actually were going for a world more like the games but when Rocky and Annabel came on board they pitched the city concept.
The reason why they pitched it however is more along the lines of "doing something different" and also to provide a subtle fridge brilliance (You know how Dinohatten looks corrupt and gloomy? That's because it's run by Koopa, who always had the dark and gloomy levels!

Isn't this a little feminine?
Yes. I know. It was my ex wife's.
But you wear this stuff?!
Yeah on an occasion we have a date.

Ok that makes sense...What about Koopa's hair? Something about it reminds me of the the way he looks in the game and or cartoon. I can't put my finger on it and it's driving me crazy.

I'm not sure what Koopa's hairstyle could remind you of in regards to either the games or cartoon series, though it is a great homage to Max Headroom.

Maybe it's this artwork? It's from Shigeru Miyamoto himself, which was used on the Japanese boxart.

Maybe but there's something about his hair that does indeed remind me of Koopa or something...Maybe it's because from the front it looks spiky just like his shell. By the way is Koopa suppose to be a Dinosaur, a Dragon, or a Turtle?

I think he's some kind of turtle/ dragon. In that image he is based off of an ox. But I think he could be this

I think Koopa's hair (movie) is supposed to be reminiscent of a Tyrannosaurus rex's head-ridges. He is, after all, evolved from one.
Re: Koopa's hair
I remember one time before I went to work I slicked my hair back with hair-gel and my mother said I looked liked Koopa. Which is actually odd because I am a brunette not blond.

I have the sudden urge to try to make my hair look like koopa's...
O-o
EDIT: I should also mention that the hair reminds me of the bumps on a turtle shell... that could be why...

His hair reminds me of the ridges on Star Fruit.
