2010 USA DVD Release....

Hi Folks
I was really interested when I saw that the film was re-released on DVD In 2010.
Though it doesn't have any special features the article was mostly on the cover art. I'm not quite sure if the picture's any good but the 5.1 surround sound is REALLY tempting me to be curious about this release.
Is there any image cutting or bleeding in it? Does it run smooth?
Is the whole film there, with nothing cut?

The Australian 2008 DVD is great but unfortunately the sound is in 2.0 and it deserves to be in 5.1.

I've heard about the 'funny' things in the original 2003 Disney DVD Release, like shaky widescreen and all that. Our AUS DVD has great picture quality though, I think it's fantastic. But it's not in 5.1....
Any recommendations will be helpful to me. Thanks!

Hopefully I can clear some of this up for you.

The 2010 DVD is exactly the same as the 2003 DVD. The only difference between the two are slightly different packaging (the 2003 version is superior).

So, just like the 2003 DVD, the 2010 DVD's picture quality is just fine, although its non-anamorphic presentation means the picture isn't optimized for widescreen TVs and that a higher resolution transfer would be much nicer.

As far as the audio goes, I'm not exactly sure that it's 5.1. The back of the box only states that it has "Dolby Digital Surround Sound." Watching the DVD in my Dad's home theater room, I really don't think the surround sound was that good, and 90% of the time the sound focused on the main, center speaker.

If you're looking for a DVD with anamorphic video and 5.1 audio, the USA DVD is definitely not the place to look.

I'll certainly wait for the official release with "real 5.1" to exist

I emailed disney a couple of days ago anyway. If they don't get back I don't care, I just want to put the word out
