Do you mean the made for TV special they did in the early 90s where they interviewed everybody on set? It's right here...

...albeit in three parts, I think it was uploaded to YouTube before they removed the ten minute time restriction.

No I'm talking about the documentary that the guys that own this site were supposedly working on for the 20th anniversary.

Redstar can probably answer this better than I can, but it's still in the works--kinda. We're just trying to figure out the best way to utilize the resources we've gathered thus far and what we want to do with it.

I'm sad to say that in the two years of us attempting to make this documentary happen we have been unable to produce more than a single filmed, sit-down interview. That being said, this interview was with producer Roland Joffé, who was the chief reason why Nintendo chose to give his company the rights to the film. We talked for nearly ten minutes on quite a few subjects.

We haven't been able to interview anyone else because most of the people we want to interview live in either New York or the U.K. We're only capable of filming in Los Angeles, which these people are rarely at for any length of time. It's pretty surprising, actually.

Because of this we really felt that the project might die, but something happened just today that might allow us to both finish the project and get it officially recognized. We should know more within the next few weeks. Hopefully we can share soon! :D

Well, even if it never gets finished, you can always release the unused footage and interview with Joffé. If money is a problem, there's always Kickstarter.

I'm getting the feeling it may get on that UK DVD/Bluray the facebook is talking about. If that does happen, I will really hope it's a UK distribution company that for some reason is selling it to the states. If it's not, I honestly have no use for it.

What UK Blu-Ray are you talking about? I haven't heard this...

You should maintain a Facebook profile or at least check ours once in awhile. We update there now more frequently than we do on the forums or main site.

UE5000 is correct: there's a potential UK DVD/Blu-Ray release coming. Amazing, right?

We don't have a lot of details yet, but are in communication with the distribution company. They contacted us for the purpose of consulting on ensuring it is the best possible release.

But if it's for UK only it doesn't help us out here in the states. Unless you have a bluray drive and can rip all it's footage onto your hard drive, or a region free bluray player. Plus REGION B from what I hear isn't as great as Region A. Though this is exciting news to know that such a release will exist, it's not gonna be a hit here in the states. Why do foreign countries get all the cool stuff?

This company sometimes does region-free releases. Depends on the rights involved and whether they have the interest.

I do know that I promised myself that I would get a Blu-Ray player if the film ever came out on that format. Might as well make it a region-free player if I have to.

I'm just not sure I understand why a predominantly American film would only get a release in the UK-- the same thing's been going on with Brian Yuzna's 1989 visceral horror flick Society, the movie was made in America and it's about American society, hence the title-- it has the American flag on the front cover... as far as Super Mario Bros., it could have something to do with Bob Hoskins and the two directors being European, but I still don't really understand the logic. But, I'll buy it either way.

This distribution company, do they only release things in the UK? Or do they have American offices, as well?

The film is fairly popular in Europe, with the UK and Sweden having some of the strongest fan communities.

As I said above, the company sometimes releases their films region-free, but not always. Depends on the rights involved and other issues.

Either way, you would still have to order it online and have it shipped overseas.
