How to play the Bluray on American Machines

Postby nesboy43 » Sat Nov 08, 2014 4:46 pm

I got my Bluray yesterday and after a few hours figured out how to get this running. Here are all the different ways to get it working, depending on your set up. Requirements for all are a Bluray Disc Drive on your PC. If you go the route of making a region free Bluray disc, you will need a blank 50GB disc.

Note: Xbox One can not play burnt Bluray discs and at the moment can not play 5.1 audio on an m2ts file, so do not try and use it to view this movie.

To play from an external hard drive on a Bluray or media player:

Step 1: Put the SMB Movie Disc in your computer's Blu-Ray Drive.

Step 2: Go to http://www.dvdfab.cn/ and download the program "Passkey For Bluray" (it shows up in one of the tabs on that front webpage). Install it and it will ask you to restart your computer, do it.

Step 3: When your computer restarts it should open up automatically and you will see 3 options. Select "Blu-Ray Trial User" then click "Start DVDFab Passkey".

Step 4: DVDFab will now have an icon showing in the system tray. Right click it and select "Rip To Hard Disk" and select a folder on your computer to output it to. It will then spend 10 minutes or so decrypting the Bluray's security, then it will start extracting the Bluray's contents to whatever folder you selected, this can take a while.

You will now have a folder titled "SUPER MARIO BROS". Within that folder is a folder called BDMV. Within BDMV is a folder called Stream. Stream will contain m2ts media files of all the video contents of the disc. The video titled "Stream 09" is the film itself, and "Stream 02" is the new documentary.

Step 5: Put whatever video files you want to watch on to an external usb hard drive.

Step 6: Plug the hard drive into a PS3, or Bluray player and select the video file you wish to watch.

Note: If you have Plex Media Server installed on your computer, you can put the m2ts into its shared folder and then stream it directly on all your devices.

Make a Region Free Bluray:

Step 5: Download and install Image Burn

Step 6: Open Image Burn and select "Create Image File from files/Folder". Click the folder icon and select the folder that was extracted, it will be titled in all caps "SUPER MARIO BROS". The program will detect that you are making a bluray image and will ask if you want to change to UDP file settings, accept this. Select an output directory and click "Build" at the bottom of the screen.

You will now have a file with a .iso extension in the output directory you selected.

Step 7: Insert a Blank Bluray Disc into your computers disc drive and double click the .iso file. It will open a window in imgburn. Under destination, make sure your Disc Drive is selected (it should be automatically). Click "Write".

When it's done burning you will now have a region free Bluray of Super Mario Brothers with the menus and everything intact.

To play on your PC:

Step 5: Open the m2ts file you want to watch in your media player of choice, both Windows Media Player and VLC work, enjoy.

Excellent post! I followed all the instructions to make a region-free Blu-Ray copy. Works like a charm in my PS3. I can't wait to try it soon in my Dad's theater room with the huge plasma TV and 7.1 speakers.

I'd like to see updates to this as more people convert their copies and see if anyone else runs into problems on other consoles (like you said, it currently won't run on an XBox One).

Thanks so much for this post, When I get my copy and a Bluray drive on my laptop, I will be trying these options and let you know how it turns out. :D
