Worth the Ride?

So. Here we are, years after the release of Super Mario Bros. on Blu-Ray. And I have to ask you guys. After all that you've done for this movie. After all the screenings, the updates, the hoping and wishing for the ultimate release of the movie in any country...was it worth it? Are you happy with what's come about?

We've done a lot, but I think there's more to be done. Was it worth it? I'd have to say yes.

Well for what it's worth, I'm glad we got the Blu-Ray. Thanks to a Blu-Ray player with region free capabilities I was able to import it and watched it in awesome 1080p and saw the big documentary. Enjoyed it. This Blu-Ray is amazing.

What makes me sad is that a primarily American movie has not yet received a proper Region A Blu-Ray, yet. I don't know why these forums and the community have died down so much after the release of the Blu-Ray when there's still so much more to do. I say now is the time to really kick it into gear.

I just downloaded all the scripts I want to check out. This site has been a Mario place for me to come to for updates and stuff. I wish you guys were still working on the comic, but maybe it ran into issues, I don't know.

I'm not an administrator, so I have no information on the comic or any future updates. I don't know what to tell you, but I do hope to see the site spring to life again. Maybe if we can find the Barry Morrow first draft or something.

IMO, it's unquestionably been worth the ride. Everything we've done with the site has been completely and utterly worth it, and helping get a Blu-Ray (of any region) out with a documentary has been the best icing on the cake pretty much ever.

Redstar and I absolutely LOVE working on the comic but we had to put it to rest for a while since we were paying for the art out of pocket. For the quality bar we were trying to hit, it wasn't cheap, and no one really seemed to want to pitch in other than us. On the other hand, we didn't really launch a good way for people to contribute (out of fear it'd get shut down).

As for the site, there is a metric TON of stuff still to go in terms of updates. Lots and lots of really good quality stuff. It's just a matter of time and energy to get it posted. That's been a challenge I continue to lose, personal life-wise. The studio I was working at had layoffs last year and eventually shut down in January, so I was out of a job for a while, and I finally got a new job (and moved across the country) a few weeks ago. I'm just now getting my bearings again. Once I'm out of that phase (again), I should be able to finally start getting new content back up.

In the meantime, Redstar is in pretty good communication with me, and we're always trying to keep the fire going. I really do appreciate him throwing fuel in there when he does. :)

Awesome hope everything works out. I'll be here waiting for updates and having conversations with you guys when I can. Hey do you know what kind of hat Mario wore in the movie? I'd like to buy a similar one, I just don't know what kind of hat it is.

It was a red newsboy cap. Probably custom-tailored and distressed for the movie.

I also look forward to new updates. As always, I remain vigilant and watch the boards when I can.

The ride itself never ends for me.
